But only Swanson is helping his team this year I guess, who’s defense has some how become questionable the last month or so, which is strange No Correa is also helping because he is the guy you wanted. I mean he has more of your favorite stat to mention , a double 29-24 but that's it triples Swanson 3-2 Homers Swanson 20-18 RBI's tied at 74 avg Swasnon .249 -.230 obp Swanson .329- .312 slg Swanson .421- .399 ops Swanson .750 - .711 stolen bases this is a sad one Swanson 7 , Correa again has not even attempted to steal a base for the 4th season in the last 5 , guess he doesn't want to get the uniform dirty? here is another fun one , he also must be really busting it down the line GDP Correa a league leading 30 , Swanson 7 WAR Swanson 4.3 - Correa 1.7 oh and Swanson made 14 million this season , Correa 33.3 million I guess this is what Jed meant when he said they will spend wisely . Ultimate HOMER

Yup, 14 million for a 101 OPS+ offensive player. Hopefully he does better than 101 OPS+ which is league average in 2024 for a 26 million annual player

Not going to lie, I'm a little disappointed with his offense , but the defense has been better than I imagined, and that includes some recent bad plays. But hey what the fuck do i know, it's all about offense from a shortstop according to you.

Ultimate HOMER Lol, yeah that's some bigtime homer cherry picking isn't it ? ............oh wait I went through just about every factual offensive stat. I'm sure if the Cubs signed your boy Correa you'd somehow be trying to spin it that he's having a fantasic season.

Swanson better be careful, Correa is creeping closer and closer to that 105 wRC+, which would make Swanson the least productive offensive player of the 4 signings. He's already been passed by Bogaerts and Turner.

He's already been passed by Bogaerts and Turner. I think everybody expected him to be the least productive OFFENSIVELY among the four and kind of by a decent margain , but people who know anything about baseball and the SHORTSTOP position know there is more to that position than OFFENSE so I'd say he's still been the best signing and certainly for the money among the four to this point. He's 4th in all of baseball in dWAR for all positions And WAR he's still tops among the 4 Swanson 4.5 X 4.2 Turner 3.6 Correa 1.4 LOL

That GG just cost the Cubs 2 runs and possibly the playoffs, nice didn’t help Cubs but at least it gave you some delight helping your ongoing shortstop narrative about the big 4 comparison

That aint it Chico… Swanson isn’t above criticism. The Cubs gave him Jason Heyward money and his offense is tilting towards below average player offensively. Heyward gave the Cubs elite defense too.

He is not above criticism, I admit he has been playing poorly as of late but I also don’t think this is Jason Heyward all over again either

You gotta be fucking kidding me Swanson 24 doubles 3 triples 22 homers 79 rbi's .249/.328/.428/ .755 Heyward averaged as a Cubs 15 doubles 2 triples 9 homers 41 rbi's .245/.323/.377/.700 And HE'S A SHORTSTOP !!! I'd like the average and OBP to be better , but 24 doubles, 3 triples, 22 homers, 79 rbi's is below average for a shortstop ?

Swanson should do the right thing and give the money back 😉
Funny when expectations are met but its not good enough. No one is above criticism in the game from a certain point of view, but when players give you what you need from them it's common to move on to some other guy to complain about instead.

Heyward was actually a better offensive player than Swanson when he signed with the Cubs. Both elite defensively with Swanson playing a more premium position. This is a typical Swanson year. Though he has seemingly shown better patience this year. Counting stats such as RBI don't mean much as it is dependent upon others. He has had hot and cold stretches, to be expected with a below average offensive to slightly above average offensive player. Think it has a chance to be a Heyward type contract as most long term deals end poorly for the team but for the short term he won't be a hindrance.

Think it has a chance to be a Heyward type contract as most long term deals end poorly for the team but for the short term he won't be a hindrance. I don't buy into people just discarding RBI totals because it can be dependant upon others. There are guys who simply have the knack to drive in runs and the guys who don't . Swanson is a decent RBI guy , hitting .271 with a .371 obp with RISP , 2 outs RISP .260 and .352 and he has 80 rbi's which puts him second in the NL in rbi's among shortstops Lindor has 90 . I'm a bit baffled that people are disappointed with a shortstop that has 50 extra base hits and 80 rbi's and saying it's another possible Heyward contract Among NL shortstops he's 2nd in RBI's 4th in homers Was Heyward ever anywhere near that as a Cub among RF "S ?
