MLB is getting a lot of crap lately regarding their plan, especially in light of nba and nhl bubble successes. But both of those leagues have less teams, and less players on each team to account for, the bubbles would be massive. Imo the plan would work, if people took proper precautions. This is looking more and more like its on the players for their actions off the field. Some cardinal players chose to play golf at whistling straits Thursday, just hours before positive results came down. That course requires caddies, so potential close contact. Now playing golf is generally considered low risk and obviously they didn’t pick it up there, but it indicates that not all organizations are approaching this situation with the same amount of caution, and if just one person on a team breaks off on their own it can ruin everything. We’ve heard talks from some clubs that they go from the hotel to the ballpark and nothing else on the road, but clearly not everybody is abiding by the same protocols. It’s next to impossible to control these guys & if they put too many restrictions on them the union can complain & stop it. I am getting tired of hearing how Manfred is responsible for messing this whole thing up when he can’t control how these guys act at all.. Exactly. And even had it been agreed upon I think it would have been a logistical struggle given the full amount of teams and rosters larger than nhl and nba. Those leagues are playing for their playoff lives and championships, a little different when it’s a whole season for players on losing teams.

These “kids” so to speak, are no different that college kids where they want what they want & being bulletproof see no reasons not to.. They aren’t bad people, they just don’t see the big picture yet. They will eventually but it’s basic human nature for now.

BREAKING: Yoenis Céspedes did not show up to the ballpark today, nor give the Mets any explanation why.
In a statement, the Mets say their attempts to contact him "have been unsuccessful."

How entitled does a player need to feel to simply not show up to a game with no explanation and then be like "oh I'm opting out".

Derrick S. Goold@dgoold #Cardinals in holding pattern as of right now. Departure from Milwaukee has not happened as initially planned. Heightened concern within and around club. Expected more results last night, then delayed to this morning. Will be updating

Nick the stick NL player of the week.
Still wish they would have found a way to keep him.

Source: the #STLCards are not going to Detroit, which was to be their next destination. That means they likely will have to make up at least seven games.

Wonder if the Cubs get the weekend off. Not sure the Cards will be playing that either.

Under the not a shocker category.
Twins place Rich Hill on IL with shoulder fatigue. This guy has to be nearing the all time record for trips to the DL/IL

Carlos Rodon headed back to the IL after recent TJ surgery. Shoulder soreness. 1st was pumping 93/94 MPH FB's and by 3rd inning velo dropped alarmingly to 85/86 & he was pulled.
