MLB proposed to the umpires a pay cut for regular and postseason including per Deim, Umpires are not to happy about it. I'd re-phrase that as the players are hellbent as long as they get their full / game salaries even if there aren't any fans in the stands.

Season not happening due to not able to work out deals due to money will only hurt both owners and players long term and they will not let that happen, as nobody wants to see billionaires VS millionaires not willing to work something out happen during these times and they know that, they are both going to be forced to work together on this and get something, I see owners and players work out some deferred salary plans for the 2020 season.

It will hurt them well beyond 2021, also there is no Sosa and Mcgwire to save them from this damage if they don't work it out.

Rumors floating and makes sense, that the minor league season is expected to be canceled. No shocking news
I wonder, when the season is cancelled, if they will expand the Arizona fall league to try to make up for it in some way?

No shocking news I wonder, when the season is cancelled, if they will expand the Arizona fall league to try to make up for it in some way? I can understand lower level leagues being canceled but AAA teams? They are a direct pipeline to the Majors. Unless MLB implements some type of practice squad, how will injured or non-productive players be replaced?

MLB and Umpires come to an agreement on shorten season pay structure. =) Progress! Good. Now the players need to negotiate a reduced salary (percentage based for ones making 1 mil & up) since teams will be losing their asses with no ticket/everything else revenue & the umps did the same. 50% seems like a nice starting point..

Since the situation was not a strike but an unavoidable pandemic, I think there would be frustration but they fans will be hungry for baseball in 2021.

I don't think fans will blame baseball because they had to react to something beyond their control. Baseball did what it was told to do in the midst of something nobody has ever had to deal with before, so there is no blueprint of "working it out" to follow, and whatever creative solution they come up with won't be good enough for some people as usual.
I've been sheltering in place to watch games for about 30 years, so I don't care what they do. I'll see it when I see it.

Talking about not playing when they can due to unwilling to compromise for compensation reasons only

If the entire 2020 baseball season doesn't happen, and yet we have a full season of football (without fans in the seats), I think a lot of baseball fans will get a bit more interested in football.
TheChico has a good point.

All this sounds like forcing a round peg into a square hole. This reminds me of the NY Giants cornerback Jason Sehorn. Sehorn was notable because he was also one of the few good white defensive backs in the NFL. Sehorn had two pretty good seasons in 1996 and 1997, but in 1998 he managed to convince the Giants coaching staff that he should run back kickoffs. The media and fan response was like, Why? Why do something that you don't need to do at all?
Well, Sehorn persisted and got his wish. He tore his MCL and ACL while returning the opening kickoff in a meaningless 1998 preseason game against the Jets. After that, Sehorn lost a step and even though he played a few more years, he was nothing but a very mediocre defender.
If MLB keeps pressing this issue and anything goes wrong, even stuff that would have happened during a normal season, the fans and the media will be pointing out that they shouldn't have forced a season under these conditions.
