You're positioning this as if this is some kind of 34 year old coming of Justin Verlander. This is a meh signing for more than they probably needed to pay him. No , your interpretation of what I type is once again WAY off mark. NOWHERE did I say he's among the best pitchers in the game. I'm simply saying his past , injury history and his ERA's have a LOT to do with the elbow which he finally had TJ on , and when he came back he changed his repertoire and looked like a top end of a rotation type guy and not a bottom . Was it a hot streak or is this where he now is as a pitcher , it's a gamble but how many pitchers have there been lately that make changed late in a career and have become different pitchers. Look at Seth Lugo , hell 5-6 years ago his arm was said to be ready to fall off he had so many issues but would continue to pitch through them and at age 35 !!! He almost won a Cy Young . You literally said "top of the rotation" lol Yeah, Seth Lugo, but you didn't like someone else's Tyler Chatwood comparison. Of course.

I would love to move Taillon, he is highly likely going to regress next season and 2024 was a outliner but I just think every other team feels the same way about him and just not interested and kind of stuck. I don't think many expect the guy to post up an ERA barely over 3 again , but he's always been thought of as a solid starting pitcher in the game . Why some people are expecting a 5+ ERA from a guy who just put up a 3.27 and has a career 3.89 and has never had an ERA over 5 is a little puzzling to me. What is wrong with a high 3's ERA ? I don't think he is a 5+ ERA guy, but not confident he is a Sub 4 ERA guy either. He benefited big time at Wrigley conditions last year and if those conditions go away next season he could be more the 4.58 ERA that he put on the road last season which is underwhelming.

No , I said top end of the rotation , possibly a poor choice of words by me, when I say that at mean top 3 not bottom end . He pitched like a 1-2-3 not a 4-5 Chatwood is kind of a poor comp because his issue ALWAYS was throwing strikes , not an injury history. My point in using Lugo , he's an older pitcher who just had his best season at age 35 and who's battles arm problems, seems like a better example to me , but hey . I'm funny that way.

2026 is potentially our last season w/ Shota. Boooo. He'll opt out if he gives us another strong season. The Cubs have an option to pick up his fifth year, if they do that it voids his opt out. Excellent news, Smithers
And nice contract structure there, Jed.

Tanner Scott Kirby Yates Kenley Jansen Blake Treinen To name a few. There's some guys out there that we need to pounce on before they're taken off the board.

So it's Trav's fault I've been cold all day?
I do recall Theo imagining rain that wasn't there. Even calling the game. Maybe we're missing something.

What about...
kevin alcantara, Jordan Wicks and Cody Bellinger to the Phillies for Andrew Painter and Nick Castellanos?
Phillies need to upgrade rf. Cubs are lefty sp heavy. Phillies eat some money.
