Pretty brutal is right.. Think if Rizzo was playing anywhere else other than Yankee stadium with the high school right field fence.. KB in on the IL again - twice this year so far & he's having to explain to their fans why he can't play I read. Javy is back to being Javy & the AL announcers are making the same statements like "why on earth would anyone ever throw him anything over the plate"? I miss quite a few of these guys but it really was time to move on from them & get the haul of new talented youngsters last year.

I liked them all . But I can't say I'm really missing any of them being Cubs and then to think about what they got for some of them I'd say Jed made the right call.

He hit one off the Cubs over the weekend to just right of straightaway right that looked like a bomb and was several rows deep, but the broadcast estimated at 357 ft. Right center gap at Wrigley is 368 with the corner being 356, I can't find a measurement to the point of the well, but it's possible if not likely it wouldn't have gone out.

rough start for Javy, but I am confident he will bounce back and hopefully he does but he always concerned me long term due to his lack of ability to get on base and high strikeout rate which will not bold well when his hits his 30's. So far, not extending any of the core players looks like the right move so far, Bryant still on the IL with back issues, Rizzo can only hit in Yankees stadium due to the short porch and Javy has been brutal for the Tigers.

He better get bouncing soon. From that linked story. <<Javy Baez is *clears throat* 156th out of 157 qualifying players in OBP and 153rd out of 157 qualifying players in slugging. This makes him dead last in MLB in OPS by a wide margin.>>

I only liked Baez for his D and base running. Figured both would fade in a couple of years with leg injuries. Never a fan of his offense but didn't expect it to be this bad. Actually thought Detroit would be a decent place for him to focus on the whole field. Rizzo seems on par with how he performed during his last couple of years as a Baby Bear. KB's contract will likely be an albatross if back issues remain.

He's going through a funk, but it's a matter of time with his talent.

KB's contract will likely be an albatross if back issues remain. Javy was fun to watch , especially on D and the bases . At the plate I figured he settled in to be an all or nothing .250 type guy since he no longer seemed to be the guy we saw in his near MVP season when he was pushing .300 but I did not think he'd struggle to even be a .300 OBP guy . Bryant , I loved but I got tired of the amount of games he'd either miss, be late scratches from , be "sick" or play and struggle while not being 100% , it seemed he was seldom at 100% , it was always something with him and now some major back issues. But both I will still root for and want to see do well. Rizzo I loved but kind of soured on over the whole contract thing so I really could not care less what he does. As sad as it was to see them all go , so far , no real regrets it's happened , especially when you look at Beaz turned into Crow-Armstrong, Bryant turned into Kilian and Canario and Rizzo turned into Alcantara and the Cubs are not paying those guys over 60 million this year and are not on the hook for 14 years worth of contracts costing them 360 million they can spend elsewhere.

Schwarber and Rizzo were really the only two I was interested in resigning. Always thought Bryant was overrated and someone would pay him a contract based on the name and not on the performance.
Baez... yea, same concerns as everyone else, but really didn't think he'd get the contract he got with Detroit.
Schwarber is overpaid for what he's doing as well. And Rizzo's performance may only be Yankee Stadium assisted. But those two are really the only offensive players doing anything from the previous core. I don't consider Pederson to be a part of the old core - but he's certainly putting together a really good season.
