Hopefully Colorado gave him the silent treatment like the Cubs did when he hit his first for Chicago

Bryant FINALLY homers for the Rockies ! His 6th RBI this season! And he's raised his road BA to .219!"It was Bryant’s first home run since Sept. 15, 2021, for the Giants against the Padres. The 38-game homer drought was the longest of his career; he went 164 plate appearances between home runs."

For me, I'm just watching Baez and KB as those were the 2 guys I wanted the Cubs to extend after 2016. I'm keeping a decent eye on Schwarber, just because I like him and want him to do well. Everyone else I don't care much, I wish them well, but not watching much. It's good to see Javy coming around with the bat. I will always be a huge fan of his . Baez - July: .136 BA / .167 OBP / .136 SLG / .303 OPS
2022: .211 / .249 / .356 / .605

It seems quite a few of the "core" players were vastly overrated. Me included. That or they were spoiled by their success and became uncoachable afterwards. Outside of Lester, who is a long shot, there's no chance any of them will ever sniff the hall of fame. None of them can ever be considered an all time Cub's great at any one of their positions either. That's kind of amazing for a team that wins its 1st World Series an over a century lol

“Tell them I love them,” Baez said from Guaranteed Rate Field. “I feel the same way, as they always showed love to me. The Cub fans are incredible fans. Many other players come up to me and ask me how good are the fans in Chicago because they see them from the other side. It’s very special to be a Cub fan. This will always be home for me. I got a tattoo with the Cub logo (on my right arm). Winning for them is something nobody can take from you. It just was very special to be a part of the Cubs organization in the past.”

Bryant FINALLY homers for the Rockies ! Tonight is Rizzo’s 2nd game in a row he’s out with back issues. Hopefully he’s not out long but he usually takes much longer to become productive after he comes back.

Hopefully he’s not out long but he usually takes much longer to become productive after he comes back. That's usually about a month long dip in production issue for him , he's not out that long , but his production usually falters when it's first starting , and then he takes a while to come around after he comes back.

Bryant with 4 HR's in 5 days... All solo.
Bryant - Bases Empty: .392 Bryant - Men On: .212 Bryant - RISP: .111 Bryant - RISP-2Out: .100 Bryant - Bases Loaded: .000
I just don't understand why we're not paying this guy $26M until he's 36 (7 yrs)? What was Jed thinking?

What was Jed thinking? Minisclule sample size. I loved KB and always wanted him to be a lifelong Cub. But I had two main concerns . One was the amount of games he'd miss. Not that it was a ton of games , but he'd get sick and be scratched more often than any player I can remember and for a few years he rarely seemed to be playing at 100% health. It always seemed like he was recovering from something. Sickness, or slight injury. I also had concerns because he never seemed to come up with the big hit in big situations the last few years. Earlier in his career I think he was way better in the clutch. I just lost confidence he'd come through in the clutch.

It seemed he could get you the three run homer when up say 5-2 against the Reds in early June, but would disappear in a tie game with the bases loaded in the 9th against the cardinals in mid September. I had no confidence in his clutch hitting, although there are those on here that say clutch hitting doesn't exist (see Reggie Jackson as a prime example). Then throw in the nagging injuries and I am so glad they did not saddle themselves with that huge salary.

I felt the same way, it got to the point where I did not expect the big hit from him in a meaningful or close game . I even had more confidence Javy would come through than KB . I still like him a lot and hope he does great in Colorado. But I'm no longer pissed an extension never got done because I think we've already seen the best we'd ever see from him. I think he kind of worked too hard to try to become something more than he was. I appreciate a guy winning the awards he did and still striving to be better , but every winter he tried to change something with his swing , launch angle etc, went from try to hit everything in the air like he did in college and his rookie year to trying to be more complete, he should have just stayed the course and not tried to change so much.

A couple things on kb
Gidp is up up up Lowest launch angle of his career this season- guess that attributes to low hr count K's are down His speed is down to lowest in career Hard hit percentage down
Kb's least clutch seasons by far were 2016 and 2017. Most clutch season by far was 2015.
Current zips protection for kb 2023 2.9 war 2024 2.3 war
That type of production for 182m (26m aav)? That's no good, Jack.
