November 2nd
1938 Jimmie Foxx becomes the first player to win the Most Valuable Player award three times. 2016 in game 7 of the world series, Dexter Fowler becomes first player in world series history to leadoff a game 7 with a homerun. in his final game and at bat David Ross becomes the oldest player ever to hit a homerun in a world series game 7. after 9 innings the game is tied at 6-6. at the start of the 10th inning, the game goes into a rain delay that would last 17 minutes. top of the 10th, Kyle Schwarber leads off with a single and is pinch ran for by Albert Almora, he will tag up and go to 2nd on deep fly ball by Kris Bryant. Anthony Rizzo is intentionally walked. Ben Zobrist gives the Cubs lead with a rbi double down left field line scoring Almora. After another intention walk, Miguel Montero got a pinch hit single driving in the 8th run of the game. Indians would get a run closer. Mike Montgomery earns his 1st MLB save as he induces a ground ball to Bryant who throws it over to Rizzo to end the game. Cubs win the world series for first time since 1908, ending a 108 year old drought. final score 8-7, 10 innings! Great job trav! Didn't take a day off from the day you started this thread. You are the Cal Ripken of the Cubbies Fever forum! On that note you will remember that the greatest game ever played didn't end until the early hours of November 3rd. And that was one of the greatest days in my life! lol I don't know about being Cal Ripken, but thank you. I not done with this thread as I will circle back around to May 1st.

Yes, I have a problem.. Go Cubs!! You just reminded me of my 8 disc DVD set with the final game of the NLCS and the 7 WS games. May have to pull that out and watch them when we are entrenched in the cold winter.
