excerpt below from CBS article is wrong.. ""With all the doubleheaders that would be required, they can't be expected to take care of pitchers' arms and position-player health in general -- without even mentioning how often they'd be at the ballpark upwards of eight hours a day instead of around four, which is already an increased risk of spreading the virus."" Except ZERO players are proven to have gotten the virus while being at the ball park, they received it by breaking protocol - period.. If the players follow protocol like the other teams are then they will be fine whether they play 9 innings or 14 innings so I really don't want to hear it.

No word from the Cards today. No practice. Hmm?

My God, the taxi squad should already be playing. End the season because of one teams selfishness? Ridiculous! Once one tests positive the entire team should be quarantined for two weeks. Once again seven days is ridiculous, unless seven days of negative tests is ok by the medical staff. Even having a AAA all-star team on ready to fill in as needed to replace a team on quarantine would help fill in games teams are missing because of quarantine opponent.

This is strange considering the Marlins and Phillies have been playing for a week.

The taxi squad thing is confusing to me. I was under the assumption of guys tested positive they’d be shuffled out for taxi guys. Instead, teams are getting locked down and games are being postponed 🤷🏼♂️ That would normally happen, but with the Cardinals they kept getting more testing positive. Until they go several days with no one testing positive they have to treat it like the whole team might be infected. If those players had all tested positive in a couple of days then there were no more, the team would be playing without them.

Between now & Friday the "Clean" Cardinal players will be known & only those players plus guys from the alternate 30 site will take the place of the infected & others in protocol against the Cubs. Not to really piss you off but there were rumblings over the weekend where they were discussing the possibility of not making up the games & just using "winning percentage" which I will call BS instantly due to the Cardinals not having to play the pretty good Brewers team.. I don't agree with winning percentage, either. If Marlins forfeit all of the games the remainder of the season, they will have a .667 winning percentage (2-1) which will place them into the playoff for sure. These games should be counted as losses as a penalty, if the outbreak is indeed caused by players going to a casino. Now if they count how many wins then it makes more sense. You can't really have forfeits, because the teams they forfeit to would just rack up a bunch of wins without playing... which would be unfair to the teams that are playing.

A new cardinals coach tested postived, Friday game postphoned and hoping to play a doubleheader on Saturday. lol
They just need to cancel the Cardinals season, this is insane, that after two weeks they still don't have it under control.

I think MLB makes that tough decision if this weekend is cancelled entirely.

I think MLB makes that tough decision if this weekend is cancelled entirely. Some think it is wishful thinking that they will play this weekend, it just depends if the coach was recently around the players and staff which is likely, hopefully not. Cardinals at best can only play around 50 games and this will only make it worst, there has to be a point they just tell the Cardinals to just go home.

Derrick S. Goold@dgoold #stlcards schedule remains fluid at this point -- a return to the field for workouts is still the next step. In addition to the reported doubleheader ( @bnightengale) Sat vs. #WhiteSox there are plans for a doubleheader next week at Wrigley to make up at least one ppd #Cubs games.

So if MLB gives the Cards the OK, they would practice today and Friday play the White Sox Saturday (DH), and Sunday, The Cubs Monday Tuesday Wednesday and maybe Thursday.
My guess would be they would makeup the three Games with the Cubs and 1 of the 3 with the Pirates but not 2 with the Tigers and 2 with the Pirates and play 56 games. Still they would need to play 51 games in 44 days.

Ryan Helsley KNEW he had Covid symptoms the day he got a haircut at a salon, he later reported the contact to the Cardinals, he was TOLD to contact the stylist, and he FORGOT!?!? And the Cards didn't follow up?!?! www.google.com/search?q=www.cardinals+haircut&oq=www.cardinals+haircut&aqs=chrome..69i57.6966j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8There are not enough words in the dictionary to describe the contempt and anger I feel. He should have to forfeit every penny of his $210,000 salary to this woman, who found out from social media she had been exposed and quarantined herself and stayed away from her job and her other clients. In the meantime . . . If he FORGOT, he wouldn't have reported it to the Cardinals. He just didn't give a shit.

Assuming the teams are above .500, advantage goes to the team that played fewer games. So there is a good chance the Cardinals will benefit from this. For example, if one team is 33-27, and the Cardinals finish 28-22, they are technically tied in the standings from a "games back" perspective but St. Louis would have a .560 winning percentage while the other team would be .550.
In fact, it is entirely possible that a team could finish ahead of St. L from a "games back" perspective but still lose via winning percentage. If Team A is 33-27, but the Cardinals are 27-22 for example the Cardinals would win by a thousandth of a percentage point despite technically being a half game back.
This all reverses if the teams are below .500, though, which could be the case if they are battling for one of the last playoff spots.

MLB should not allow a team in the playoffs that has not completed the 60 game schedule unless those games would not change the standings.
If STL ends up playing 55 and another loss or two could change the standings between them and another team than those games should have to be played.

The other idea floating around on twitter is that the Cards would makeup the three games with the Cubs and Pirates but not play the 4 games with the Tigers. So two teams the Cards and Tigers would only play 56 games. This all depends on MLB giving the Cards the OK today.
