This is what he meant by leveling off and having your numbers reflect what you've done in the past: Cubs ERA in Apr: 2.44 Cubs ERA in May: 2.91 Cubs ERA in Jun: 3.12 Cubs ERA in Jul: 7.76 Fowler BA in Apr: .347 Fowler BA in May: .295 Fowler BA in Jun: .207 Zobrist BA in Apr: .260 Zobrist BA in May: .406 Zobrist BA in Jun: .221 Zobrist BA in Jul: .125 We weren't as good as our numbers suggested in the first 31 games And we aren't as bad as our numbers suggest in last 53 games Thanks! Someone that understands how average works! Btw, we have played more time as a close to .500 team than a .700 or above team. That's why is yet to be seen if we can actually beat anyone in the playoffs, they need to start playing better soon, and show they can actually do it.

but they have beaten good teams, which has been pointed out to you several times but you ignore those posts for some reason... They did beat good teams a month and a half ago, or earlier. Not the team that is playing now, that's the whole, point they were playing way above their heads at that time. They have to beat good teams playing at their averages. That's all. but the team that is playing now is still not the cubs at full strength. fowler and soler are still on the DL. the BP has not been shored up yet. you're acting like this is the team we'll see in october, it isn't.

We've seen the great team that started the season beat everyone easily, we have seen the bad team that is now lose to every winning team they've faced and some bad teams. Now we need to se the average team beat the good teams. That's all! What's so wrong with that?

Well he doesn't upset me at all so I'm not sure where you would be getting that from. Right now the Cubs are not playing well and that is apparent to pretty much everyone. The fact is that particular poster never has anything to say other than negativity when they are doing badly. It's really that simple. If you agree that right now the Cubs are "leveling off" to the team that they truly are then that means that you agree that this Cubs team should not finish above 500 for the season. I don't agree with that but if you do then that's your prerogative. I don't think it means that at all and I don't think you're the person to interpret how I feel. That would be as stupid as me saying you don't think we were going to level off and you thought we would play .730 ball, the rest of the way. We are leveling off. And our weaknesses, which were hidden during the blowout era of the season have been clearly exposed. Okay so I'm not the one to interpret what you feel yet you are the one to interpret how I feel? I believe your original post to me was asking or mentioning that I was somehow upset by him. Funny how things like that work I guess huh? Anyhow my interpretation, as well as every other poster in this thread other than you, of that particular poster stating that we are leveling out and returning to our normal is to say that the Cubs 13-17 record over the last 30 games is their normal. What's funny is you responded to me when I wasn't even speaking to you, about my true statement, that this poster only posts things that are negative when things are going bad. You asked me what upsets me about what he was saying when in fact it seems you're the one who's upset. You add a lot of good content in the minor leagues threads and I'm sure it has to require a fair amount of research. I'm asking you to show me one playoff team, let alone a World Series winner, who hasn't had a 10 to 20 game streak of sub 500 baseball. I'm pretty sure you're not going to find more than one or two teams if that many. Heck expand that to 30 games and I'm sure the number of World Series champions or even playoff teams would still be in the single digits. The only statement I made in my original post was that this poster won't be around when this thread is bumped back up because he's never around when things are going well. If you for whatever reason you have an axe to grind with me then that's your problem. What I stated in my original post, as well as being the prevailing opinion amongst most other people, was a fact regardless.

Oh and as well with all the injuries the Cubs do have, which you are actually acknowledging, how would you expect a injury-depleted team,in the middle of a slump as all baseball teams go through, to compete with good teams who are not injury-depleted? Just be honest, you might be a Cubs fan but you're only here when things are going bad and you're only here because you thrive off negativity.

Winnign in the playoffs is a different thing and until they prove they can win a couple of series against the elite teams with this team, I don't think they can do it." this is one of your first few posts in this thread. the point i'm making is that THIS TEAM that you referenced is not the cubs at full strength and not the team we will see in october. you failed to acknowledge that multiple times in this thread.

Even with all the injuries the rookies tha came up did a very decent job.

And again, I do not expect this team to compete right now, I want the average team, the one that will play between .700 and .500 to beat good teams, I want to see that to give them a chance in the playoffs. That's all. And again, I was here a lot more in the first month and a half of the season than when the slump happened.

Until then, I don't give them a chance to win at all in the playoffs.

If you're playing great in the start you need to start paying awful to reach your level. So no, I don't think that's Fowlers level. Thats whay hay I want see the team that hits it's average, beat good teams, we already know the above average team can do it, and the below average team can't.

Some of you seem to have the wrong idea that I say the Cubs suck, which I don't, and never have said. Then you have the idea that I think the Cubs are a below or close to .500 team, which I don't, and never said. It all started in this thread because I said that I don't believe the Cubs are just a reliever or two away from winning it all, I think this rotation can't win a 7 game series against an elite rotation like the Mets, and I think the hitting can't win if Heyward doesn't pan out as expected. So I said don't trade Schwarber. And until I see this team's average beat good teams that won't change. That's all! And then people started calling me out because I think the Cubs suck, or that I think the are a below .500 team. Or that everything is wrong, etc... Which I've never said.
