or another way to think of this question is if the postseason started tomorrow, who would take the ball in game three? I say Lackey, as that is why he was signed, but Hammel and Hendricks have outpitched him a little this far.

Technically it's Hendricks, since he has been starting after Lester. But I think Lackey will be #3 in the postseason. Just have to wait and see how things play out.

Lackey is the obvious 3. Question will be (if they make it) does Hammel or Hendricks could the ball as the #4. I'm hoping Hendricks.

But Lackey has the experience in the post. He does and he's good in the post, I think it's the reason they signed him.

Unless we are playing the Cardinals, Lester. Lackey is significantly better at home than on the road. Considering we will most likely have home field in the divisional series, I go Arrieta-Lackey-Lester

Considering we will most likely have home field in the divisional series, I go Arrieta-Lackey-Lester ...Lester has a 2.29 ERA. Barring some sort of collapse in the second half, it's basically locked in that the 1-2 will be Arrieta-Lester.

Lackey was brought in to pitch in the postseason due to his success, so we will be #3 starter without a doubt.

Lackey? He's brutal. Worst starting ERA of the Cubs 5 at a whopping 2.88. Pathetic.

Lackey unless Hendricks just becomes a star.

Lester has a 2.05 ERA at home, 2.84 ERA on the road. Lackey has a 1.96 ERA at home, 4.55 ERA on the road. So if you have the choice of having Lacket at home and Lester on the road, why wouldn't you do that?

How about Lester as the #3? Lackey might be able to outperform him in the playoffs. Just saying ....
