I'd rather have Fried than Snell, but it's very close. If Snell landed 5/182 then Fried will probably be close behind in dollars/years. My Fried prediction now: 6/158 That’s close to what MLB traderumors had him at. Snell landed 5/160 in present day value.

I like Flaherty also, and didn’t realize he was only 29. I thought Hess early 30’s. Now I would welcome his signing even more knowing his age. He had some great years with the evil empire and seems to be getting back to that form my personal belief is that Flaherty has Zach Wheeler written all over him and his contract is going to be a “steal”. just hope we’re the ones to get him

If we sign Flaherty and trade for Crochet, our young (delicate) arms can keep their innings down by helping the bullpen.
Steele (L) Flaherty Imanaga (L) Taillon Crochet (L) ----------- Arias/Brown/Hodge/Little (L)/Neely/Roberts 2 options Assad/Hallowell/Kilian/Palencia/Wesneski/Wicks (L) 1 option ----------------------------------------------------------- Merryweather 0 options / split contract E. Morgan 0 options T. Miller 0 options Pearson 0 options Thompson 0 options Zastryzny (L) 0 options
I know that Pearson has expressed his enthusiasm for being a starter again, but let's be honest... Assad/Brown/Wicks (Horton/Birdsell/Noland, i.e., eventually-would need to be added to the 40-man) will take those spot starts. If we complete the rotation with outside help, those spot starts SHOULD be less frequent.
If we're keeping the bullpen with Hodge closing and Assad moving to long relief, that would leave two spots open in the rotation...
With Ben Brown being healthy, I think the FO will use that (and internal options) as an excuse to only sign 1 FA SP.

The Cubs should be looking to trade Taillon and getting out of his remaining 36 million. I’d give Pearson a look this spring starting. The fifth rotation spot should be wide open with Brown, Pearson, Assad, Wicks, Wesneski with Horton being a long shot but looked at all the same (assuming we do not trade any of these guys).

If trading Bellinger is more about getting out of his contract for whatever reason and not opening a spot for Caissie. I'd rather they trade Taillon. Losing potentially you're most productive middle of the order bat makes no sense to me .

Dodgers at it again. another contract with deferred money.
"Tommy Edman and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement on a five-year, $74 million contract extension, sources tell ESPN. The deal runs from 2025-29 and includes a sixth-year club option. There’s a $17 million signing bonus and deferred money included."

Per Morosi or Heyman, forgot which one it was, Soto will make his decision within the next 10 days.

Dodgers getting players they want and need while retaining the players they want and need. It is winning formula.

Chapman to the Red Sox 1/10.5 Million. The redsox mean business. I think Chapman should have to give his mom half of that in retribution (s).

Jazz Chisolm caught on camera smoking a J in Miami. Can we get a discount on a trade now?
