Article on Jack Neely from a month ago www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/an-analytic-look-at-a-budding-yankees-pitching-prospect/ar-BB1nRhvWThis stands out ................So far he’s struck out 45 of 117 batters faced. MLB has Neely graded at a 60 fastball and 70 slider. The slider is a clear out-pitch with good sweeping action. The slider generates unhealthy hacks with no chance of piecing up the ball. This is above a 50% rate for accumulated strikeouts. The slider sits in the mid-80s. His fastball is a four-seam with bite that cruises at 94-95 mph and tops 97 mph. He commands it well and works the zone, leading to whiffs. Neely could increase his success by adding another off-speed option.

Paredes just arrived in Cincy and is at the stadium. He's starting tonight NICE!! My son & his wife are going to that game in the Kroger suite & he was really hoping to see him. Then again we are watching our 2 young Grandkids so we get the better deal.. Enjoy the grandkids while the Cubs win in Paredes CHC debut.

yeah I get that but with so many positions secured for the foreseeable future where do we put someone we trade for other than catcher or maybe a pen arm, but we apparently have several potential pen arms coming soon too. If Busch and Parades are the answer at corner infield PCA the center fielder of the future and NTC contracts at corner outfield and middle infielders for a couple more years, where do we put prospects or trades If they don't end up trading away any of our starters then some of them would be platoon or bench guys which isn't ideal. It's not impossible to trade guys with NTC but it does make it challenging. They could also trade some of the higher rated prospects for other teams very good but younger prospects to slow their ascent to the bigs and/or remove the rule 5 issues we will start running into with quite a few of these guys. I know but it seems like a complicated path forward, maybe a better second baseman makes Nico a utility player off the bench. Trading our good prospects for someone else’s younger prospects and having to hope they develop all over again seems counter productive and kinda defeats the point of accumulating them in the first place

My prediction Neris and Smyly will be moved, and possibly Tauchman.

It's pretty hard to get excited about 20-25 when the Cubs are pretty much going to be bringing back the same crap that we've seen for the last 2 years

Per Rosenthal Cubs did not make any more moves.
We will not get to see any of the younger players get a bigger shot due to being blocked by players they should of traded.

Cubs must love Merryweather, Neris, Taillon, and Smyly more than the other teams.

Cubs must love Merryweather, Neris, Taillon, and Smyly more than the other teams. other than Taillon don’t they all just walk away at season end and we get nothing? Not sure why we held on with the season likely going nowhere, I know lots of baseball left and anything can happen but odds are against us playing in October. Would seem like they could take any halfway reasonable offer and get something then give a couple young arms a tryout the rest of the year

Neris is going to hit his vesting option, will be part of the Cubs pen next year.

The construction of this roster is just so underwhelming. At the very least, as you say, you clear out the roster and see what you have in the minors. Maybe you have nothing in the minors... but at least then you'll know.

Seriously. Anyone talking about maybe the offers weren’t good enough, did we ever consider that the players themselves just aren’t very good? The biggest win of this deadline should have been simply creating mobility on the roster for younger players to come up and inject life and talent into this roster. You tryout the vaunted farmhands we’ve heard so much about which also paints a clearer picture of your needs heading into the offseason. Instead we are basically stuck with the same underperforming bunch of turds that has us currently six games .500 in year 4-5 of the rebuild with little hope for the future because there are so few ways to actually improve the roster in meaningful ways from here. It’s like 2025 has basically already written its motto as “whelp, better luck next year.” That’s the return of the dark times during the 2000’s that left us all so frustrated and wanting.
