Jed aced the offseason, now he's doing the same with the trade deadline. Using brains over balls seems to be working for Hoyer. Watching the the know nothing know it alls spaz out is also rewarding.

I would rather keep Taillon and use him to beat out the Mets in the wild card. If the team can be improved a bunch though....

Taillon to the Mets rumors on Twitter FWIW Intersting. I doubt they are after Baty after landing Paredes. But I would not mind Kevin Parada and the Mets might be willing to move him since they are set behind the plate with Alvarez.

Cubs should be talking to LAD about a Hoerner and Taillon/Assad trade. Get Dalton Rushing and an unproven but MLB ready arm like River Ryan. Dodgers middle infield has been atrocious and even if/when Mookie returns there is still a disgustingly glaring hole at his mirrored position for a team with World Series aspirations. They also have nine pitchers on the IL at the moment. Cubs get Rushing and Ryan Dodgers get Hoerner, Taillon/Assad, and a veteran reliever of choice Eat some money if you have to since it’ll be all taxed accordingly for the Dodgers. Rushing creates another option for C over the next year while Ryan steps right in. Neither is some uber young prospect either (Rushing 23 in AA, Ryan 25 just promoted MLB). These are kids that can factor in in the very near future for a Cubs team trying to reimagine itself a bit. Have you seen Rushing play before?

Morel for Paredes: Great trade. Paredes IS, at 25 years old, what everyone HOPES 25-year old Morel will be, one day.

Parada is a bat first catcher and just ok at catcher with a below average arm, I really don’t see the Cubs having to much interest in him.

Trade Hoerner and had the keys to... whom? Bote? Shaw? Shaw is now officially blocked at 3B, btw. Through 2027.

Im not sure who theyd be after from the Mets then.

Makes me wonder if they even trade Taillon at all, I think FO needs to be blown away or will just keep him.

Cubs don’t have to trade him too, his value is high and Jed can just hold if he does not get a offer he likes If Tailon is traded it will have to be for a bit of an overpay in this market.

Hes not really overpaid and they dont need to trade him other than this potentially being a sell high window.

Yep, does not make a ton of sense to trade him if you are trying to compete in 2025. You need to make sure to get a haul in return or just hold which will likely be the case.

I have no eye for that stuff. Good bat, capable defensively but plenty of room for growth.

Watched him all three years in college. Use to call him baby schwarber. But to be fair he only really played catcher his junior year. So the dodgers could have worked their magic with him like they did with Will Smith. I thing I can say he isn't 6 1. Im 6 3 and tower over him. He is 5 10 but a human muscle with legit power.
