Back on topic of Richard, ok , now can they pull the plug. Yet again ANOTHER outing where he can't manage to get an out. Joe lets him face 2 batters, he allows a hit to score an inherited runner and then walks the next guy. Bosio on the Score just now.."Clayton is doing his jobs..the balls are just finding holes".. How can he say he's doing his jobs? He's put in to get ONE freakin out most of the time , and he doesn't.

Bosio on the Score just now.."Clayton is doing his jobs..the balls are just finding holes".. I mean he's kind of right. It seems like a lot of the hits are not hard hit through the hole to the opposite field. The issue is they can do that all day because he has nothing but a fastball, they know what's coming. If he had some sort of off speed pitch he might be okay, but he doesn't and he isn't. He's not right , his job is to get an out, he's not. He's right that balls are finding holes, he's not getting hammered out there with long balls or balls that are scorched, but they are easily hit and he's not getting outs.

Yeah I wasn't really defending Richards. It's hard to be successful when you throw one pitch.

For some odd reason they must like him, they haven't sent him down yet and replaced him. I have no idea why, personally this experiment seems to be a complete failure. Last season and this season as well, several guys came in struggling and figured it out at about this point in the season. So I understand having patience and letting guys work through their struggles. Wood, Cahill and Strop all came into this season struggling, but have improved as time went on. But if you haven't got it together yet, it's time to pull the plug.

But when you're put in the game in most cases to get one guy out , and you don't time after time after time , when is enough. He's the teams situational lefty, lefties this season have a .458 BATTING AVERAGE against him , .519 OBP 1.019 OPS If they have their heart set on keeping this guy on the roster he needs to be nothing more than the middle innings guy , not put in situations late in a close game.

He needs a trip to the minor leagues to get his head screwed on straight.

Honestly, he doesn't have enough to be on ML roster at all. He needs to go down and work on his stuff in AAA and they need to bring up Concepcion, Patton or Edwards, really anyone.

How can he say he's doing his jobs? He's put in to get ONE freakin out most of the time , and he doesn't. Politics. He can't come out and say yup this guy sucks " We've tried everything but this guys a bum. Unfortunately we are stuck with him till we trade for a new lefty". Yeah that might not go over too well.

Perhaps he was referring to his jobs: Carrying the Gatorade cooler to the bullpen and cleaning up the ballpark after home games?

He should say: Clayton has struggled, but we're trying to give him the opportunity to work through it. The front office is acutely aware of the situation and are exploring all options. We are dedicated to finding the option that gives us the best opportunity to get outs and put up zeros whether that's Clayton, another in system option, or finding a player that fits our team composition if the right deal presents itself.
That is the politicly correct way to say we have given him the chance to work through it, but we'll do what we need to do to fix it.

Actions speak louder than words. It's time to make a chance either through free agency or bringing someone up. I would say bring Concepcion up and if it doesn't work than you have to make a free agency move.

He has proven to all concerned that he can't be trusted in the situation he was hired to perform. I would be more concerned with the other 24 that "trust" management will field the most competitive team possible in order to fulfill everyone's World Series aspirations.

The first sentence would suffice. You don't need to go into detail about exploring different replacement options. The only bothersome part IMO was Bosio saying that Richards was just getting unlucky, and pretending like nothing was wrong.
Something is wrong. If you want to give him more time to work through it, fine... the smoke up our asses is unneccesary though.
