Anyone think this guy will be able to continue his playing career and would anyone want him on the Cubs or is he Luke Heimlich untouchable after his mess?
Also, same question with Ozuna...

Others have continued, so I don't see why these guys won't be able to. With Trevor, the details are still sketchy if he was being set up or not , but even if he was set up , his actions are disturbing . I would not want either on the Cubs. He's a headache to deal with even before this scandal and I never liked Ozuna.

Jeremy Jeffress has been out of baseball for a year for what I assume to be a domestic violence issue that never was fully reported. I'd be willing to take him back, and give him a shot. He might have to be suspended for a month by MLB, but he was our closer for a time and did a damn good job of it.

Truth be told, I've had several woman tell me in detail that they want something similar to what will forever be referred to as the "Bauer special".... I'd be interested to see if it was he who instigated the rough sex in conversation or if it was the woman.

Not the sexual stuff because that's really none of our business and I'm sure there are many players doing far more freakier things. Everybody has their own thing and it should be kept private. I have not followed this case closely , but from reading it when all the initial stuff broke. It kind of sounds like he was being targeted and set up and thats not really fair to him. I just think he is too much work for a team. He has his own philosophy on training and pitching and even if it works for him I would not want a batlle between him and a pitching coach with him trying to get in the heads of young pitchers. It's not worth it at the price he costs and I've always thought of him to be a bit over rated. He's really only had one great season and two or three very good ones out of 10 .

How do you know how he generally treats women?
Bauer has a bad rep (as a player) because he does have his own philosophy on training, and it's worked for him. His whole reputation is stemmed from the Diamondbacks pitching coach saying he was uncoachable because what the D-Backs were doing was not working for him and he wanted to go back to what he was doing in college.
Do you by chance remember the Pirates organization being criticized for running their minor leagues like a boot camp? Or what about Nolan Ryan saying pitchers were being too cuddled and basically had guys throwing their arms out? Players can disagree with coaches, fact is, they ARE INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS and if they do not want to "fall in line", no one says they should. Wasn't Darvish criticized at first for wanting to pitch/throw more often?
It's getting a little off topic but one thing about Bauer as a player is that he is really smart. He spends a lot of time in the off season perfecting his craft. He is trying new things, trying to be on the cutting edge, that isn't a "problem", it's a solution.

I said "supposed way" he treats them . I'm not going to get deeper into that or try to find the story I read because I don't want to spend the time on it. And nothing wrong with what he does with himself and his training and philosophy on pitching if it's working. It's him trying to spread it to others which he openly said he would love to do when a few years back he said he was only going to sign one year contracts with a new team every year so he can spread it around and help young pitchers. It might be something that works for him , but it might not work for all and if you have him in one ear and the teams pitching coach in another that might not be the best thing for a young kids head, especially with how much the mental aspect comes into play with young pitchers.

If either continues to play, I wouldn't be surprised if the yankees signed them. They know they're the bad guys, and they can use that to their advantage because at this point it's nothing new from that franchise.

Ozuna being Rice, where his MLB career may be over. Bauer on the other hand would most likely get picked back up.
Ozuna has that one monster season, short season, recently in Atlanta but he's been more good than great and definitely not elite and he was terrible leading up to his suspension.
Bauer however has been elite and was pitching at an elite level prior to his suspension (in LA mind you).

The way teams covet top level pitching might save Bauer's career. He is still signed through 2023 and I'm sure his case will be resolved by then , but will LA welcome him back? But after , even prior to this I'm sure there were a lot of teams out there that would not touch him with a 10 foot pole so his options will be limited, but I could see the Angels, Rangers being desperate enough and willing to weather the PR hit that might happen if they sign him.

League minimum most teams night be willing to put up with the PR issues and his antics. But 2024 free agency will be interesting .

Oh boy, I don't think that would work at all because Bauer & Cole were on the same team at UCLA & have pretty much hated each other ever since. I'd hate risking having my 2 best starter beat the shit out of each other & miss starts..

WOW Manfred issues Bauer a 324 game suspension starting today without pay through April 2024 and does not include all the games he already had been put on the administrative leave for .
Bauer will appeal and issued this statement
“In the strongest possible terms, I deny committing any violation of the league’s domestic violence & sexual assault policy. I am appealing this action and expect to prevail. As we have throughout this process, my representatives & I respect the confidentiality of the proceedings.”

Bauer said last week, how is it an issue when 2 consenting adults agree to have rough sex “again”.. Not anything I would choose but if they were consenting as was confirmed by both parties then how can this be a suspendable offense? No police charges after the investigation means to me that MLB just considers this situation as embarrassing, not illegal. I think he wins the appeal if it is decided by an outside party..

I think Bauer is a tool , always have so I'm no bias fan that is going to stick up for him. But how he and his partners decide to have sex should have nothing to do with his baseball career unless it was in the teams locker room . It was a very long investigation in which he was not charged for anything from what I understand was because there was no clear evidence it was not consentual and it reeked of a set up from day one. Does Manfred do the same thing if this was a player with a clean image like say Kyle Hendricks , or is this more about it being an outspoken loose cannon like Bauer ? Hell , in my opinion since the end game was no charges and him not being found guilty of anything illegal , he should have been reinstated immediately and given back pay for the time missed and now they are trying to take away the 64 million he was to make in 2022 and 2023. He should win an appeal easily if it's an outside party.
