- 2019 swing - 2020 swing He raised his hands in 2020 but still pushes his bat. Very raw, very long road ahead of him. Baseball instincts are tough to teach How does he "push" the bat when his swing is all hands?

More like all forearms. The push will amount to everything hit to center or right. No pull... Needs to get his shoulders and wrists involved

Cubs have now drafted 2 of the top 4 college fastballs in this draft. It is about time they started getting guys who can throw heat. So tired of watching other teams put guy after guy hitting 97+ blowing us away and then we send someone out throwing 92 with smoke and mirrors

Nwogu looks like the Cubs are anticipating the DH to the NL in a few years. Why? He apparently is a good enough defender to play CF but projects as a LF because he doesn't have a strong throwing arm. Specifically because of the arm. I know it was just warmups but the video made it look like he couldn't even throw from LF to 3b. It looks like he's throwing for the cutoff man but that ball is diving immediately and even one didn't get to the cut. Hitting ability can be developed, you don't often see players arms improve at that age, it usually is what it is by then. Unless he's got some sort of arm injury that's holding him back, not common but not unheard of.

Is he a football player trying to play baseball? Nothing smooth about him, major project that should be a good test for their player development team

I agree, it kind of is what it is, you can make some tweaks and adjustments but the brain is kind of locked in at this point. If he fully overhauls his throwing motion and etc. he would be a very rare exception and I bet nobody really see's that happening or expecting it but will try. he was drafted purely for his bat, if they can develop hit bat and adjust his swing which is doable, he could be a monster at the plate and that is where they are likely putting their money on since the DH is here to stay for good.
He is a big "IF" , boom or bust guy no doubt.

Had D1 interest as a football player, but walked on at Michigan for baseball. Had some First and Second team selections honors in 2019, but listed as a designated hitter.
From what I can tell he'll take some work, but has some huge upside potential.

A lot of the "draft experts" saying Carraway has a good chance to be the first 2020 pick to reach the majors.

Another signing late last night. Matt Mervis from Duke. Two way player 1B and pitcher. Cubs said to be more on him for pitching potential than as a position player. But some say his power hitting ranking could be in the 60-70 range and has really improved the last 2 years. Throws low 90's . Some say in a normal draft he probably would have gone around the 7-10 round range.

www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/06/amateur-draft-signings-61620.htmlInteresting to see teams signing players for extremely low numbers, well below slot values and sometimes at unsigned free agent values. Looks like some teams pretty much punted the back end of the draft with players that probably shouldn't have been drafted otherwise. The financial cutbacks continue.

And lets not forget on top of what I felt was an excellent draft the Cubs even though its been pushed back 6 months now will sign the top IFA free agent 16 year old Christian Hernandez.

Are there any restrictions to what can be offered for undrafted players? Specifically high school seniors. I dont know anyone specifically in this draft, but every year there are high school guys who drop due to cost to pull them from college. But now, without the cap, can they still be given large bonuses and signed?

Yep 20K is the max and they gave warning any under the table action would result in heavy penalties.
