No one knows exactly what's going on (especially me), but as I've said before, two parties filing in two different states present legal complications that have to be resolved FIRST. The family owns residences in both Chicago and Tennessee, and ANY time Zo spends in Chicago right now, gives Juliana's filing more standing. Illinois is a complete no-fault state, while Tennessee permits extenuating circumstances (including marital misconduct) to be considered. The rate of divorce among baseball players is higher than the national average, and I don't recall any other baseball divorces requiring this kind of time and effort on the part of the player, but with Ben nearing retirement, with minor children and lots of assets involved, I'm sure this all figures into the complexity of the situation. illinoislawforyou.com/illinois-divorce/competing-divorce-jurisdiction-ben-zobrist-divorce/ Personally, I am totally uninterested in the details, but I would have thought that Zobrist wouldn't leave the front office and the team just hanging there wondering what's going on. Lawyers and courts do have a reputation for letting things drag on. Why do you assume Theo hasn’t been in communication and doesn’f know whats going on? Just because we don’t know whats going on, doesnt mean they dont Huh? I don't assume that at all. And I specifically said "I would have thought that Zobrist WOULDN'T leave the front office and the teams just hanging . . .". I did say the situation is complex, and suggested that the legal system is where the hangup is.

Great news. Give him a month to get his timing and all back and activate him when rosters expand. his presence alone should give the team a lift.

He is expected the day before that to be post season eligible. It would be an incredible coincidence if he were to be ready, the day before the deadline. Thus saving the Cubs every possible dollar before activating him. Wouldn't it? Nobody on this board in May, could have envisioned such a scenario... Oh wait!

Im a bit amused by people judging Ben's early season numbers. His issues he was dealing with did not just pop up when he decided to take time off. He also with the teams permission was late to report to spring training so its pretty safe to say his head and heart more than likely were not in the game then. I don't think a true pro like Zo would return if he didn't feel he could help the team now.

2019 stats...596 ops, negative war, he's done I dont think so. 0.1 war for benny this year. Small sample size, head not in the game. He could be better than that later in the season for sure. I assume your kiddin around (cubtastic), but just in case.
