There’s so many teams in California already. Do their residents really need another option when they’ve already got all of the Dodgers, Padres, Giants, and Angels to choose from? There are plenty of states with no team to root for, I’d think they’d be a better option here. Vegas heavily discussed, but even Utah and Oregon are right there wishing for a team. 🤷♂️ This is simply something to hold them over while they try to get a permanent solution. It's near enough that they can still probably have something of a local following, unlike a 3 year move to Portland or Utah where they'd have to establish a completely new fan base.
But in general they're still screwed. Vegas support seems to be mixed, 3 years might not even be enough time if they can't get that figured out. I'd think this is just a ploy to get a better deal from Oakland on the Coliseum, but it sounds like a deal has been signed. This could get worse before it gets better.
I get Sacramento stance, they can audition for an expansion team and show their market is viable which I don't think it is but want to be wrong about that and you are right, I don' think the Las Vegas situation is going to be smooth, they are getting good amount of kickback and can fall through. I would be surprised if a stadium is ready to roll in 2028.

SF to Sacramento is like a 155mi drive. Regardless, I misunderstood this story. Sacramento is a temporary site for the A’s while they transition to Vegas? It's about a two Hr drive to SF. The move is to West Sacto (Other side of the river). Which is even closer (1 1/2 Hrs from Oakland - Less than 100 miles). They'll sell that place out, every night. It would be awesome for Sacramento and the millions that live in the surrounding valley. But it will be hot as hell for visitors.
