I know he had the domestic thing come up , but that was dropped and pretty much proven to be a mini scandal and he was cleared of everything. Other than that I thought he was a pretty cool dude and nice guy from the interviews I've seen with him and from me being friends with an Indians fan who's met him and hung out with him. The only other thing I can recall is he broke the Covid protocol with Zack Plesac

Jumping ahead, but Cubs will likely be out on Soto based on comments Jed made about money and TV deals. Soto has reportedly told the Yankees he wants a deal similar to Ohtani's 10/700. I think we all knew this was coming. Personally, I'm ok without Soto.

If anything, I see the Cubs will more focus trying to find a TOR starter more than anything.

He will just be another guy no one will sign due to outrageous demands and will end up with a short deal with opt-outs. Unless the Yankees are dumb enough to give him what he wants.

Yep , no surprise , I knew that would happen , it's an ego/status thing , apparently he and Boras don't factor in Ohtani got that money because he's also an ace pitcher and a marketing cash cow , which Soto is neither. I don't even want the Cubs to waste any time on him. Great hitter , but the Cubs are not lacking OF and DH's and already won't have enough room for the ones they have.

I would estimate a 10 year 450 mil deal would be the best he'll see & if he's smart he'll jump on it - even if it is the Angels..

We have Caissie and Canario (Mervis, too) boiling hot in AAA right now. I think the only way we acquire Soto is if Belli opts out. Hendricks, Smyly, Mancini, Barnhart, Bote, and Gomes are off the payroll next year.

A's are moving to my hometown Sacramento for the 2025-2027 seasons with an option for 2028 as well.
As a kid I always wanted a MLB team but this is pure garbage, we had to fight to keep the Kings from being Stolen to Seattle and while back and now aiding another owner who is doing the same thing.

There’s so many teams in California already. Do their residents really need another option when they’ve already got all of the Dodgers, Padres, Giants, and Angels to choose from? There are plenty of states with no team to root for, I’d think they’d be a better option here. Vegas heavily discussed, but even Utah and Oregon are right there wishing for a team.

And that state it huge mileage wise north to south so the proximity of the teams is really spread out about the same as all the teams in the midwest. Sacremento to San Diego is like an 8 hour drive.

SF to Sacremento yes , but I was talking about how wide spread the Cali teams are , Sacremento to SD is 504 miles , that's further than driving from Chicago to Pittsburgh

I’ve always been a bit begrudged at how they load so many teams into California for every sport. It’s a huge state but then when you have some like the temporary relocation to Sacramento when the Giants, an immensely popular team with a huge fan base, are a 2.5ish hour drive away? Huge state with a huge population, but there are other places that would love a professional sports team, too, ones that don’t already have three in hand. Then we hear all the time about congestion in these coastal cities and why does no one want to live in the mid-states? Gotta develop them! Just doesn’t register with me. Thought now understanding this is a temporary move I’m less curmudgeony over it.

It's near enough that they can still probably have something of a local following, unlike a 3 year move to Portland or Utah where they'd have to establish a completely new fan base.
But in general they're still screwed. Vegas support seems to be mixed, 3 years might not even be enough time if they can't get that figured out. I'd think this is just a ploy to get a better deal from Oakland on the Coliseum, but it sounds like a deal has been signed. This could get worse before it gets better.
