I'd imagine if the Cubs are buyers then they will try to package in guys like Young and Velazquez into deals , solid AAA players having good seasons who have no real place on the Cubs and are taking up 40 man spots and also major league guys like Wisdom , Madrigal and Rios (good luck with that last one ) . I agree & there are teams with low payrolls that will be interested especially in guys like Wisdom & Nick. Then again if we don't grab a 3rd. baseman we'll probably have to play Madrigal. I even contemplated the scenario where you contact Colorado or Detroit & offer to take either KB's or Javy off their books if they pay down their contracts by 35% & plug them in at third but I just don't know if either one of them can consistently help us out offensively enough to be worth their deals for that length of their deals.. Very sad. The Cubs need guys who can play games, so no thanks on KB since he's once again on the IL and he hasn't played 3b in two years so who knows how he'd even handle playing 3b. Baez , I don't know his numbers scare me but I'd rather have him than what we have.

Ugh… David Robertson heading to the Marlins Hoping the Cubs could bring him back The return on him was the Marlins #18 & #21 prospects which seems low but who knows.. He would have been nice but pretty expensive for what the Cubs are looking to spend so I'm guessing that they pick up a lefty reliever that has slightly worse stats but with good metrics that needs a change of scenery & the Cubs pitch lab can straighten out. They really are very good at that now.

I know KB is hurt again but the fractured finger doesn't bother me because it's another "fluke" injury but man, he has a ton of those. The foot situation concerns me because that is a "gift that could keep on giving" unless the surgery on the plantar fasciitis really did correct that issue. "IF" he were to put those things behind him he really does have the ability to put up 125 OPS+ and a 3 fWAR every year even if he does miss 25 games a year for something stupid & if that could be had for 17 mil per year & he is an exceptional athlete so I have no doubt that he could play an average or better 3rd. base & still be able to play 1st. & all 3 OF spots with average or better defense. The Rockies are used to paying down massive contract mistakes so you never know, offer them a top 6 young controllable OF prospect & they might seriously consider it.

Padres are listening to offers on Soto. Just sayin. lol Before we extended Happ he might have fit nicely but handing over the prospect capital for 1 year & 2 months of him would really hurt & push Suzuki into the DH role full time. As enticing as he looks I just can't see the Cubs thinking he's the answer to winning it all next year. Then again I haven't been wrong yet today so I'm due..

It's almost like he's rarely ever 100% If they Cubs traded for him today , honeslty despite what I'm saying I'd be very happy , I loved the guy as a Cub but I'd also fear that he's going to disappoint me because he had already started to do that when he was still here, the games missed, times he was a late scratch because he didn't feel good and I had lost all confidence in him coming through in the clutch.

This helps LA how? I am happy for this trade to occur. Banking on a ball park to fix his home run woes.

Wow the Fire Sale is all out Fire Sale!
The Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox are in agreement on a deal that will send right-handed reliever Kendall Graveman to the Astros, sources tell ESPN.
That's 3 starters and 2 bullpen guys in 24 hours!

Sox did a long rebuild for only 2 year window and 1 playoff game win. Great work! The Sox are actually doing a great job in their returns at the deadline though...

Arenado to Dodgers? He’s reportedly willing to waive his no trade clause to get the fauk out of St Louis (can’t blame him there) and the two sides have discussed names… I keep hearing about Arenado and I keep assuming the Cardinals will not move him in any situation but it keeps picking up steam. I wish the Cubs can get into that but no chance in hell the Cardinals will ever talk to the Cubs about doing a trade like that., Cardinals fan will burn down Busch Stadium alone. That is just stuff floated by the L.A media. The cardinals will not be trading Arenado and he has no interest in leaving. cardinals have a history of not responding to these kinds of rumors.

I cannot see it happening, FO already said their focus is on 2024 to contend. Arenado trade counters that statement.

Well that's what derailed that train. But i thoight with him gone they'd get back on track because there is a lot of talent there. It's just all the same type of hitters though and most of them can't field their position worth shit.

Brewers and Marlins thought to be in on Eloy Jimenez. I’d imagine the White Sox would love to get rid of him due to the constant injury concerns but don’t think they’d also sell low on him. I think it’d be a mistake to trade any legit young talent for Jimenez but when you are as desperate for offense as a team like the Brewers, maybe you take that risk.
