The Rangers and Mets have agreed to a trade involving Max Scherzer though it’s contingent on Scherzer waiving his no-trade clause.

Seems likes someone from the mighty Metropolitans leaked this news.

Sounds like Max has agreed to be traded to Texas but they still have some financial logistics to work through. If Texas is this desperate we should be on the phone offering up some relief help for them yesterday. Their bullpen ERA is terrible and apparently they are going all in.
Edit: Luisangel Acuna, brother to Ronald Acuna, is thought to be part of the deal should it go through.
I really hope Max vetoes any deal and stays put. It annoys me that the Mets might get off the hook of one of the stupid 40+ AAV deals given to an aging pitcher, not to mention netting a top 50 prospect as part of it.

Deal is now done, Rangers wanted Mad Max to guarantee 2024 and he refused so Mets are throwing in money for Acuna.

Scherzer did pick up the player option for 2024 which appeared to be the requirement for the Rangers to throw in Acuna.
Props to the Rangers going all in even though Scherzer is not the elite starter he once was, but still good and will help

The Mets don't care much about $$ & get a mid. top 100 player for him & the Rangers get a #3 starter that could pretty easily revert back to an under 4 ERA starting pitcher for around 17 mil for next year.

Cardinals get busy , trading Montgomery and Stratton to the Rangers, and Hicks to the Blue Jays It figures that they wouldn't tear the team down until we were finished playing them for the season but the Reds have them 6 more & the Brewers 7.. But we went 8 - 5 against them this year so good enough!

They are getting much better very quickly.

Anyone have a pulse on how the Cards did in these trades? Blue Jays #7 prospect & another kid in return. Texas #11 & #14 prospect & another kid. I expected a bit more return..No prospects over scouting grades of 45 & I don't know yet if the other teams are sending cash or not.

Anyone have a pulse on how the Cards did in these trades? I'm not really impressed with the return on Hicks, but for Montgomery and Stratton they did ok. I think they kind of got taken on the Hicks deal Robberse was the Jays #7 prospect but doesn't seem like anything special and Kloffenstien wasn't in their top 30. The Montgomery deal they did ok , King is a major leaguer but just an average pen arm, Robey was Texas #11 and Saggese #14. Saggese is having a great season in AA .314 avh 15 hr 78 rbi's

For all uninterested in CJ Cron, have no fear. He and Grichuk are headed to the Angels.

For all uninterested in CJ Cron, have no fear. He and Grichuk are headed to the Angels. They gave up their #8 & #28 prospects but will receive a good amount of cash to help pay their salaries. The Angels will not only lose Ohtani but have essentially gutted the top end of their already bottom feeding farm system in doing so. Good God, they could have turned their system into a top 10 MiLB system if they had dealt him..
