I guess so we can keep running Smyly & Brewer out there game after game. With Hodge looking pretty good so far and Little seems to be finding his way adding those two could go a long way to solidifying the pen. Not saying there going to come up and be that dominant, all of the above will likely hit a few bumps in the road but at least they offer some hope. What we have now seems hopeless. Even if they aren’t as dominant at this level right now I would settle for reasonably good with hope for greater upside

We all recognize we are just fans. I watch the games and talk baseball from the comfort of my couch with no professional baseball training or experience of any kind. My ideas are likely shit. But we know what Counsell’s Cubs have been doing isn’t working and it hasn’t been for over two months now. Yet it seems like they are completely uninterested in trying anything different to shake things up and instead just keep rolling on with the status quo. So who’s the real dummy? (I know, it’s still me)

We’re at least sane enough to know we need to try something different

Meanwhile they don't seem all that worried as the team keeps sinking more games under .500 when it's an embarrassment to have a team with this kind of payroll under .500. Yes they have had a shit ton of injuries, I can't recall a Cubs team get hit this hard with injuries, but they just are not playing good baseball at all other than the SP which had somehow held up through every single one of them other than Shota visiting the IL.

Pitching injuries remind me of 1985. Everybody got hurt that year, showing what a toll 84 took on them.

Yeah , I think the entire rotation went down back in 85, but I don't know if just about the entire pen did too.

here we go again
I-Cubs MGR Marty Pevey on Brennen Davis who hasn't played July 11:
"I think they saw something in his lower back so he went to a specialist. I don't know where or exactly what the injury is. But I guess they did an MRI and wanted to send him to another person that's an expert.

I was thinking if we could get him with the Cubs strength and conditioning coaches to round him into shape but then with the overwhelming number of injuries we’ve had I’ve started to wonder about them

3 more Walks for Rosario. The 2nd time in 5 Games, that Rosario was Walked 3 times. Either he has the greatest eye since Ian Happ, or no Pitcher who's trying to get promoted will pitch to him. OTOH. It's fine and dandy, for his OPS. (1-2) with a Single + 3 Walks = an OPS of 1.300 Rosario's OBP has risen from .275 on May 25th, to .345His OPS is now .791 -- 2nd on the Team and rising ( .925 in June - with a .512 SLG) 19 BB (0 IBB) in 24 Games (120 BB per 151 Games) --------- 35%K

21-54 (.389) / .462 / .463 / .925
When I saw South Bend, 2 yrs ago, 3 trunks stood out (viewed from behind the Batter's Box). Mervis, Canario.... & Howard.
