Well since he's always hurt I guess he's probably playing through injury at times or recovering from one so he's often not able to go 100%. But I'm also not so sure he's played through injury as much as your average player because I don't ever remember any Cubs player other than maybe Jose Cardenal back in my youth being a late scratch from so many games because of illness or whatever reason. And before Fitz flips out about ragging on our 2016 champions now that they are gone , I'm not ragging on him when it is what it is and really can not be denied. And comparing him with other fellow 2016 champs like Rizzo who had a severe ankle sprain and Baez who had an ankle or foot issue and kept playing he always seemed a biy soft to me and yes I said that when he was still a Cub. I love what he did for the Cubs, I followed him since the day he was drafted and enjoyed his time in the minors seeing him destroy minor league pitching and I still like him a lot and wish him well , but I'm just being honest here. I can say after the initial ROY and then MVP I thought he was going to be headed for the HOF and a 500+ homer career and here we sit after 9 years with 182 homers and a guy who's had a hard time getting to 100 games a season lately so I'm not so sure how the rest of his career is going to look. I thought with him going to Colorado his career would pick back up and he'd be putting up monster numbers again and it hasn't happened , after 2 seasons they've gotten 122 games out of him and 15 homers . To put that in persective the Cubs have gotten 18 homers out of Yan Gomes in 2 seasons.

No amount of preemptive damage control can you save you now batman. You dared to discuss Kris Bryant and you will suffer the consequences from Steve! 😈

You dared to discuss Kris Bryant and you will suffer the consequences from Steve! 😈 Probably , but he misunderstands that I really do still like and always will like Bryant. I just don't sugarcoat things or pretend the present is what it is just because he was a huge part in seeing my life long dream happen in 2016. I'm mainly just making conversation here, because again after a pretty exciting couple of days with the Imanaga signing and Busch trade we are back in the doldrums of waiting out the Jed and Boras staring contest.

I'm not the one who constantly and continuously references players no longer here. I've moved on a long time ago, but apparently those who enjoyed what those playuers gave us in 2016 cannot. To each his own I guess

To each his own I guess I still like all of them and they were a big part in my most enjoyable day as a lifelong lover of baseball so I will always have interest in what they do the rest of their careers and talk about it , good or bad. This thread was supposed to be about those core players we all loved , since it's kind of morphed to any ex Cubs.

No one said to stop talking about ex-Cubs. Lets be realistic, you all know exactly what you are doing. I'll keep tabs on how they're playing and I'll always be thankful for the small run they gave my Cubs.

Frank schwindels locker neighbor in japan last season? Yoshinobu yamamoto.
Unfortunately frank didnt accomplish much last season in japan. Only around 60 games and a .188 average. Hard to find the info, but he mustve been injured.
I was at the game in 2021 when frank the tank slid to first and won the game. Man, wrigley was electric that day. Well- when that happened atleast.

I had been meaning to look up what he did in Japan last season BBR has him 33 games 108 pa's only 1 tank 21 rbi's .245 avg 24 strike outs and I've never seen this before in my life , his OBP was lower than his batting average , he did not walk a single time in 108 pa's , his OBP listed at .241 with a .580 OPS

Frank likes to hit. Doesn't like to walk. Wish him luck for next season - not sure what's next for him - japan again?

Former World Series champ carl edwards jr signs minor league deal w cubbies
Still injured im guessing or recovering since its a minors deal and he was injured late last season.
Put up a couple decent seasons in a row it looks like before shoulder issue.
Nice pickup.

Addy Russell 2023 played for the KBO team "키움" (sorry, all i got) 59 games .286/.339/.400 106 wrc+
not much for defensive stats at fangraphs for kbo
My best guess is he continues to play another year in KBO
