Getting back on track to ST, here are a couple notes from today: *Ian Happ working mostly just in CF *Bote working at 3b.... according to Mark Gonzalez, he has not shot at 2b *Hernan Perez lost about 15 pounds, in the mix for backup SS *Ross may start the year carrying 3 catchers (Phegley) Looks like Mark Gonzalez fixed his tweet.... it originally said "no shot at 2B" for Bote, now it says "shot at 2b".

Jordan Bastian @mlbastian 2h Asked about his MLB backup shortstop options, Cubs manager David Ross named Nico Hoerner and Hernan Perez as the depth for that spot.

Mills Chatwood Alzolay You first 3 ST starters Hmm if they all pitch well this spring does Q get traded to get the Cubs under the luxury tax.

I think they need Q as well, Starting depth is not the deepest on this team.
Other hand, Yankees lost 2 starters from their rotation already, so they could get desperate.

Rizzo confirms, Rossy told him he's batting 2nd behind Bryant. I am fucking loving this, Ross has a plan and putting it into motion. Sucks for the starter that have to face that to start the game. lol Bryant Rizzo Javy Schwarber Willy 1-5? Also, <1% chance Q gets traded before season starts. Always want to start with depth at SP. Q (or someone else) just needs to be traded before deadline to get under tax. Also, if cubs are contending, no need to get under tax if Q is being productive and can seal the division and chance at another Flag and “piece of metal”

Yankees just announced that Severino is down with a sore arm with no timetable so if they lose him along with their lefty starter that had surgery they very well might be buyers/traders..

He's still having issues since his last start in 2019 with the same forearm, yikes.

I think us losing Q would adversely impact our starting 5 BUT if we do have to get under the tax I believe we could weather the season better in losing Q than we could in losing KB or Willson..

What the hell does this mean, “program to ease him in to Spring Training”... regarding Kimbrel. This sounds like it should be for Morrow not Kimbrel. Was anyone else aware Kimbrel need to go ease in ST?

Was anyone else aware Kimbrel need to go ease in ST? Not as concerned with a reliever as I would be for a starter. He did have some arm issues last year, that could contribute to it

Was anyone else aware Kimbrel need to go ease in ST? Let me clarify for Hotovy. Learning how to pitch when you throw 2 mph slower is the answer. Extra rest isn't the answer for Kimbrel. ie, if you don't teach him new pitching strategies... it will be last year all over again.

Morrow hasn’t thrown since February 10th yeah, something has to be wrong and the Cubs aren’t saying anything. Not even Jesse is answering twitter questions.

Morrow hasn’t thrown since February 10th Jordan Bastian @mlbastian 8m Cubs right-hander Brandon Morrow is down for at least a few days with what the team is calling a mild right upper chest strain. No clear timetable right now. Felt it in his last bullpen session. just the same ole story.

His last BP session was like 2 weeks ago, before the food poisoning, right?

His last BP session was like 2 weeks ago, before the food poisoning, right? I'm beyond believing the excuses at this point. My prediction was that he would start off the season on the 60 day DL, and the Cubs would see if they can get him healthy for the 2nd half.
