Tough spot, sounds like the rumors of her unfaithfulness may be true. Ben is the one who actually filed for legal separation in Nashville TN first citing in "inappropriate martial conduct" by his wife in court files. She countered Ben's filing with a divorce filing in Cook County as "irreconcilable differences". She filed in Cook County because Illinois determines martial assets the day divorce is final. EDIT: This could get ugly. Illinois is also a 50/50 State. He filed in TN. We'll see how that works out. I think the cheater should get nothing.

As a fan, im hapoy it’s not health related. If I was Zob, I’d take a broken leg over a broken heart. Fucking sucks. Of course we don’t know the whole story, but it appears pretty shitty on her part. Hope the kids are able to work through it and understand it’s not on them. It’s moments like these that remind us what is even more important than the game we love.

The divorce is just one thing, the child custody is the biggie. I could see Zobrist retiring if it meant getting custody of his kids.

I’m guessing we don’t hear the Benny and the Jets walk up song anymore.

A lot of negatives in the story and I feel bad for the entire family (unless one person f'd up). One positive is I don't have to hear her singing when he comes to the plate.

They seemed like a happy couple, and really into their faith as well, so the marriage had to be getting really rough on them. Really tough for a couple who both both in the spotlight and on the road a ton due to their careers to keep a healthy marriage going as well. I would not be surprised if Benny decides to hang up the cleats to focus on his family to be their for his children during a rough period. I would love him back but his family is more important. If that's the case this may give them room (maybe not enough) to sign Kimbrel for 2019. I think Kimbrel is extremely overrated from what he did last year, but he's definitely a guy I'd rather have on the Cubs than not have on the team.

But I started reading stuff about her being unfaithful.

I saw one over the weekend pop up on my facebook feed that said they may be having marital issues due to her potential cheating. I brushed it off as blogging gossip.

How does that work, meaning if in two different states, which takes presidency? The first file? I agree that the cheater should get nothing, but it’s not like she’s broke either.

Yes, that was reported first. I was pointing out that He also filed in another state. How does that work . . .? Messily. And potentially VERY complicated. And I suspect it's the reason Benzo is not playing with the Cubs. From experience, I predict this isn't going to be amicable, since it looks like the legal maneuvering has been going on for months. The following info isn't too bad: www.hg.org/legal-articles/how-can-i-get-divorced-in-one-state-when-my-spouse-lives-in-another-state-34021 There are cases where a divorce is granted in one state, but the property settlement and child custody ends up being decided in the other (though it's no longer called a divorce settlement, since the divorce was already granted, and the Full Faith and Credit clause of the Constitution takes precedence). Two things I'll never understand: cheating on a spouse or trying to keep someone in an unhappy or unhealthy relationship.

I guess it depends on what your vows are.... "to death do you part" has a ring of finality to it. People who only want to stay together as long as it's fun, probably shouldn't get married in the first place, but that's just my outdated view.

This is starting to get really weird. It'll be 2 weeks tomorrow since he's last played. I thought this would all get figured out within a week. Are they trying to figure out every detail now so it's no longer a case?

Are they trying to figure out every detail now so it's no longer a case? I would guess there is little to no contact now between her & Ben so he is probably taking care of the kids but it’s easy for the wife to get temp custody so he may be watching her/them like a hawk..
