When will we put this exhibition game back to what it should be? This is NOT baseball the way it is normally played, and SHOULD NOT count for anything other than bragging rights. Put the BEST record back to home field advantage....not this farce of a game that is only a showcase for the fans and popularity. This has gone on far too long and is ridiculous. Unless we make the ProBowl, the NBA, and NHL All star games follow this incredibly stupid format that MLB has put before us, our All Star game should be nothing more than it used to be...a break in the season, to relax, showcase, and have fun. IT SHOULD NOT COUNT FOR ANYTHING EXCEPT THAT. All I can say, is everyone you talk to...including most people in sports and broadcasting, think this is ridiculous....this is Selig's greatest fail and everyone knows it....it needs to be changed. By the way, I would STILL feel the same way if the NL won tonight...it is just so stupid, it is beyond belief that this has not been changed. Again...Stupid.

I agree that the AS game shouldn't count, but I disagree on best record. 2 teams that play completely different schedules, their records compared to each other are meaningless.
I would go to a 2-2-1-1-1 format with game 7 being at a neutral location

Even though they play in different leagues the best record is still the best way to determine home field at least its in the teams own hands. It also makes the 162 game season worth somthing more for that team instead of one exibition game.

It's incredibly stupid to have this game determine home field advantage on the biggest stage in the world but it won't change until players start speaking out strongly against it. From MLB's perspective, they are probably getting a lot more viewers than they would be otherwise. I watched most of the game and would not have if it didn't determine home field advantage. By no means does that make it right, but from a money perspective I'm sure they are very happy with it. We need guys like Anthony Rizzo and other big name players to come out in the media and talk about how absurd it is.

When you watch one of those other "All Star" type games for other sports, it's just not very entertaining. The players are out there just having fun, and not giving it their best. You don't see defense in the NBA. You don't see hitting in the football Pro Bowl. You don't see fights and hard hits in the NHL game. The big names are out there, but they're not playing for real. It's all just a big joke to them.
Without competition, SPORT, in general, is pretty boring. If you want exhibition stuff, watch fake wrestling and get your entertainment that way.
You could encourage the players to play hard a different way perhaps, some other incentive, but there has to be a reason to try to win. "Bragging rights" isn't enough, and you are stupid to think that. In your own words... Again...Stupid.

They do it for the superbowl that's an apples to oranges comparison the superbowl is one game. a neutral site makes a lot of sense in that context, not as much for a series. baseball is more popular at a regional level while football is very popular at a national level. that's another reason a neutral site works for the NFL but wouldn't for MLB.

Why should the All Star Game be interesting at the expense of a fair World Series? MLB is a sports league. It isn't a circus (I'm looking at you, NBA). Focusing on entertainment over fair competition causes a league to lose legitimacy.

6/30 is hard to believe, but I'll take your word for it because I very rarely see the NL win. CHANGE THE STUPID RULE
