Not sure what was more impressive the catch or the bomb off the 3rd deck. Supposedly teams are after him in trade talks. I hope they hang on to him , his play this season is even further reason to make Soler available.

I hope they hang on to him , his play this season is even further reason to make Soler available. saw this on mlbtraderumors "Cubs outfield prospect Eloy Jimenez is getting trade attention but the Cubs aren’t eager to part with the talented 19-year-old, CSN Chicago’s David Kaplan tweets. Jimenez signed with the Cubs during their spending spree in the 2013-14 international signing market, inking a deal with a hefty $2.8MM bonus that reflected his status as the most well-regarded prospect of that 2013-14 class. Jimenez is enjoying a breakout year at A-level ball, hitting .332/.372/.527 with 10 homers over 336 plate appearances. He also was one of the stars of today’s MLB Futures Game, going 2-for-3 with a homer and a spectacular catch in the outfield"

My question is how does Moncada walk away with the MVP , 2 for 5 with 2 rbi's and great D. Jiminez 2 for 3 with 4 rbi's and great D In the pre-game, all the attention was on the Red Sox's Moncada, and the Astro's Bregman. Both of those guys had great games, too. Jimenez ended up stealing the spot light, but the powers that be had already decided that it was going to be either Moncada,or Bregman before the game even started, IMO.

Well that explains it, I didn't see the game until the 5th inning so I missed all that pre game hype . I did just see their re-cap of the game this morning and they were talking how they (Vasgersian, DeRosa and Mayo )predicted Moncada and Bregman and then casually mention Jimenez also having a great game.

I wonder if Eloy gets promoted to High A now. I don't see how he doesn't move to high A in the second half. He's dominated his level and it's time for a promotion. With that said, I wonder if the Cubs view him as untouchable. I feel like the Cubs are going to have to give up either Torres or Jimenez in any major trade. I hope that's not the case. Happ is going to be a guy teams really want but I'd be pretty reluctant to give him up as well based on his on base skills and ability to switch hit. We just have to hope the Cubs can do what they need to do by trading guys like Vogelbach, McKinney, Zagunis, etc.

I know they can always move them around to other positions, but there is no where to move them to . Baez needs an everyday position , Schwarber is going to be limited to LF, Almora is looking like he can be an everyday OF, they are going to have to settle on where to play Bryant. While it's great to have these versatile guys, it might be best to eventually settle them into one position. I mean they have Zobrist , Bryant, Russell, Baez, Schwarber, Soler, Heyward, Almora, Happ, Candelario, Torres, Jimenez , and something makes me think I forgot somebody ...........thats 12 guys to fit into 7 positions. I realize Zobrist might not be a regular by the time Jimenez is ready but it's just too many bodies and they don't need them all.

Eloy Jimenez also made a great catch in the Midwest League All Star game in June, very similar catch only down the left field foul line.

Yeah I agree. Eloy had one hell of a good game. Those highlights were unreal.

They would have to be WOWED by a deal to have that happen.
