#Cubs Fowler will not play in ASG
Cubs outfielder Dexter Fowler, who is on the disabled list with a strained right hamstring, will not play in the All-Star Game on Tuesday to give him more time to recover.
Fowler, named to his first All-Star team, began a rehab assignment Friday night at Class A South Bend and went 0-for-2 with two walks. He did not have a setback in the game but decided he needed more time and would not be ready for Tuesday’s game.
Fowler, 30, was to play in the outfield Saturday night for the Minor League team but will instead return to Chicago. He will go to San Diego on Sunday to take part in the All-Star Game festivities along with his six Cubs teammates also named to the NL team.
Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes also cannot play in the All-Star Game because of an injury, and on Saturday, NL manager Terry Collins named Pirates outfielder Starling Marté and Reds outfielder Jay Bruce to the active roster as replacements for Cespedes and Fowler.
Fowler was expected to resume his rehab assignment after the All-Star break.

Sounds like Fowler will play for Iowa Friday thru Sunday after the ASB and if all goes well rejoin the team to face the Mets on Monday.
