should have been the cubs making this deal. Would of been nice, but I think the Cubs are thinking bigger. Zeiger a good reliever but there will be other chances to find a solid good reliever like him, but I think they are looking for a shutdown guy first.

The Cubs guy like Zeigler is named Joe Nathan, and he should be here in 6 to 10 days.

I completely agree. Personally I think they need two regular guys and a lefty specialist. Honestly Im just sitting back and wondering when the obvious problem is going to be fixed......I think everyone knows the sooner the better and it isnt going to fix itself.

exactly, not sure what theo/jed are waiting on.
i'm afraid there may be 2 issues going on.
1) they really want miller who is an expensive piece that doesn't fix as much as a piece that expensive should, and they are willing to let that play out in hopes they can get it done whithout giving up schwarber. in the meantime they are letting worth while acquisitions fall through the cracks and could end up in a bad situation if they wait too long.
2) they are scared to deal the wrong prospects. now, i don't know who teams are asking for or who they've been talking to but it seems like the cubs and dbacks have a decent working relationship. i also see no reason the cubs could have not topped that offer with ease. of course getting in a bidding war for zeigler with a team that has a deep farm isn't ideal either.

Or...the FO could be busy having multiple discussions with multiple FO's in order to make the deal(s) that make the most sense for this season and the effects it has on future seasons. This is an idiotic reason for the following trade, but I'll throw it out there...a few years ago, on MLB2K I traded to pick up Abad. (Yes, yes, I know it's silly, but it's ASG week.) I personally wouldn't trade Schwarber for Miller.

Let's also not forget that for every player we get someone has to de DFA'd from the 25 man & as poorly as Richards was he is the only true LOOGY we have & if he gets it together he can be that again. Also, are you all willing to DFA Grimm knowing that when he;'s on he is sometimes unhittable? I'm not just yet. IT's not going to be easy.. I would like to see the Cubs pick up Miller and it is NOT going to cost Kyle, just Candelario & 1 other top 5 prospect (I hope). Also another reliever but not until very late this month after we see what Nathan has..

if they get another lefty richards can be DFA'd. they caught lightening in a bottle with him last year and are still trying to suck him dry. time to move on IMO.
if it's a righty they acquire, patton can be sent down.
