"cubs have second *worst* record in NL since Dexter Fowler landed on DL with hamstring injury: 6-11, -15 run differential." - john morosi
it's hard to say the cubs don't need him.
if he's resigned does almora get the baez treatment in the OF? i think that's how you have to play this. resign him and see how things play out with all the depth they have.
injuries will happen and there would be no better late inning defensive replacement for schwarber than almora.
thoughts?

Fowler was scuffling pretty bad when he went down..I think its more on the starting pitching..

Pitching in general is the reason for the record since Fowler has been out, I think it is just more of a coincidence than anything, Fowler has been missed but not the main reason why the Cubs continue to struggle.

I was going to say, Fowler was struggling before his injury. Starting pitching has taken a nose dive and the bullpen has been very inconsistent. Besides Almora and Contreras, two of the kids brought up recently, have been hitting well.

From that Pittsburgh sweep on (when he got injured) this team has taken a dive. Maybe taking a 1 year deal from us was brilliant for him.
