Not complaining, just an interesting thing I've noticed considering how discipline Kris usually is. He's been wonderful overall though. No sophomore slump here.

Cubs players in general have been less patient than they were throughout April. It might be a reaction to pitchers pounding the strike zone more, knowing that they'll take balls, but to me it seems like they're just less patient. Lots of swinging at sliders going out of the strike zone, etc. Maybe it's just me.

This also happens in game with the Cubs.....against a pitcher last week they were taking a lot of pitchers on the first go around the lineup and then they were pouncing on first pitches.
Maddon is not letting the players stick to a predictable hitting routine...harder for pitchers to scout them thru tendencies.

Maddon is not letting the players stick to a predictable hitting routine...harder for pitchers to scout them thru tendencies. Was just about to say the same. There is in-game strategy that is very evident and changes. Sometimes they are elevating the pitch count of a "crafty nibbler" ... and sometimes they are pounding the pounders. Fun to watch.

He is going to garner some Mvp votes. He is insanely valuable ... not just for the hitting. Plays multiple positions very well. He'll finish in top 5 of voting for many years. I know I'm really going out on a limb with that one. But when's the last time we've been able to say that with confidence about any Cub, let alone multiple teammates?

A lot of it is pitchers adjusting to the fact that were just walking and forcing pitchers out of games. Another part of it is when the offense struggles, it seems that a lot of the Cubs hitters seem to lose their patience and go for the game winning home run.

Definitely have been less patient. I think pitchers were using their patience against them and getting ahead in counts and we've adjusted. But I think we're at our best when we're allowed to be patient.
