Big history for solar with these hamstring injuries. That is why i was happy when fowler came back to add outfield depth. But with kyle already down, hope he is alright. Willson C. stats offensively in AAA are very impressive. Hope he is not put too long to slow his defensive development. He looks ready in the batters box.

What did they say Soler's injury is hamstring??

He's pretty brittle. I'd expect him to be out a while, regardless of how serious the injury is. You can't rush a hammy, especially if you're him. Who gets the callup?

Contreras just had something in his instep. Dr looking at his foot arch tomorrow. Had it during all star game and still played next day.
Maddon said he thinks Almora if Soler to dl but then back pedaled that he wil seek advice from the minor league squad.

Des Moines writer:
If the #Cubs place Jorge Soler on the disabled list, look for Albert Almora Jr., to be the guy to go up. #MiLB

If it is Almora it wouldn't shock me if he plays LF initially... deferring to the vet in center. I'm assuming he's played some there this year when I say that... Then again with Joe maybe it doesn't matter...

I'd really like to see Almora get more time in AAA. He's been a slow riser in the system, and the majors would be a level shock to him at this point. We need a part timer with a good pinch hitting bat off of the bench.
MIGHTY MURT!!!!

I'd be surprised if it is Almora. I'd assume Murton or Kalish. Also hopefully Soler isn't out more than the 15 day minimum, but I could see it being a month or more. Too bad, he was seeing the ball well lately. He'd been mostly laying off pitches out of the zone recently.
I have to wonder due to Solers prolonged slumps to start a season if he is just lazy and puts in no work at all in the off seasons and therefore it takes a couple months every year to readjust to MLB pitching.

Albert Almora Jr. will not be with the Iowa #Cubs today. No word on if he's officially been called up of is on standby to wait on Soler.

wow.
i don't want them to rush almora, although it would be exciting to see him called up. if they think he's ready, i trust this FO but seems a little early for him in my eyes. the defense is there, but the bat isn't quite there yet despite the progress he's made.
kawasaki, murton and kalish will be more likely to get the call IMO but this FO can be unpredictable at times so we'll see.

Kind of weird the kid has to sit around and essentially hope that Soler goes on the DL. I mean he wants the best for his team and the guys he knows like Soler but you bet your ass he wants the call to the show.

it would be suprising if it is Almora, outfield defense will be top notch but is his bat ready?
Kalish would be the more logical call up you would think unless the injury is going to keep Soler out for a long period of timecwhixb is possible

The Score just said Almora is up but basically on standby if Soler needs to go on the DL...
Hearing same as @tommybirch: #Cubs plan to have Albert Almora ready in Philly in case MRI shows Jorge Soler (hamstring) needs to go on DL.

He's obviously very young but it can't hurt his development to get him 8-10 start in the major leagues before sending him back to AAA when Soler returns. I'm a big believer in that. I think some guys hit a ceiling in their development at AAA and need some time in the big leagues to recognize certain weaknesses and take the next step. Javy Baez is a good example of that.
