39-15 is .722 baseball. 117 wins (the standalone record) is .722 baseball. The Cubs are on pace of win 117 games.

Eastern Sports Programming Network MLB Wants To Break Up Cubs June 4, 2016 – C.A.R.
New York – Reliable sources are telling us that Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred is calling for a convening of club owners to discuss the possible disbanding of the Chicago Cubs. Apparently Manfred feels that the Cubs have been making a mockery of the concept of MLB parity promoted by his predecessor, Bud Selig. “Fans are not going to watch games, if the outcome of the season has been predetermined by a bunch of upstart bullies. This could go on for years, if an adjustment is not made,” complained Manfred at a recent charity event.
The leaked plan envisions Cub players and the team’s strong corps of minor league prospects being distributed to the other 29 MLB teams in a draft-like format. The St. Louis Cardinals would be allowed the first pick in each round, so they can be restored to the dominant position in their division that their fans so rightly expect. Originally it was proposed that an expansion team would replace the Cubs in Chicago, but apparently Chicago White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf has already invoked his veto as allowed a superowner. “Cub fans will eagerly become White Sox fans,” Reinsdorf has reportedly assured the commissioner.

Pirates are 10 games behind. This is how a team dominates.

As the season enters the final 1/3 (a ways off I know) it will be interesting to see how JM plays this out. Do you rest players in September, especially some of the pitchers? Or do you go GSW on the league and go for the record?

Rest. Just like they have been, with the exception of Bryant and Rizzo. But, the Cubs should be able to withstand a couple of games without one of them. Hasn't hurt them so far resting their players.

That is the amazing thing about this team. They can do both

I don't see that as an "either or" situation. This team does get most of the players rest. I think you will see some extra rest in September for the pitchers, but nothing that would hold them back from going at the record if they are close.

I think maybe JM goes to wood for a start to give everyone one extra day off. When the weather gets hot that extra day could really make a difference down the road

When the weather gets hot that extra day could really make a difference down the road That really doesn't make a difference. The best option is to limit a guy to 60-70 pitches. I would rather set up piggyback games. Have the first guy go 60-70 pitches and then bring in Wood or Cahill for 3-4 innings.

Only problem with that is it'll start to put alot of mileage on our bullpen. Unless you wait until rosters expand in September and just use guys that won't be needed in October.
