I know many people don't want to hear this but the race for the Central is over. The cubs won't be playing in the wildcard game.

The way there playing now and the rest of the division isnt doing well, they better not be playing for a WC spot.....Theres nobody in baseball right now that i beleive mono ie mono can take the Cubs in a series. Maybe to much Koolaide...

Nationals you start a 5 game series with Scherzer and Strasburg and if they throw like they are capable, you could easily be down 2-0. Same can be said for the Cubs though with Arrieta and Lester. We could have some amazing matchups this year in the National League playoffs if teams like the Cubs, Nationals, Dodgers, Mets, and Giants make it.

Agreed, but last year we didnt have anybody really after Lester and Jake. This year, we have 5 solid starters that can take it to anyone of the named teams. Granite, understand about your concerns over the Giants, Mets, Nationals but even if the 1-2 on each team split, our 3-4-5 are about as solid as they come, along with a pretty dam good pen.

I still wouldn't mind the FO trading for another ace if one could be had.

On July 6th they were 56-29 There's 2 huge differnces the White Sox werent even ahead in the division they were 1 behind at that point where the Cubs are 9.5 ahead.Secondly this Cubs team is way different than that team.

In the lose column
Pirate 10 Cards 12
To put this perspective as I have said before no team in the WC era has come back to win the division from more than 11 games back by the AS break.Only 3 teams have comeback from more than 5 games out that right there was amazing to me.

as of right now only thing Cubs need is some solid left handed bullpen arms. Wood been good, but Richard is not good needs to be DFA

And if not a bat from a trade they will probably call somebody up. Last year the mets series was so sad because of lack of offense.

I think he is the last peice of the puzzle, when you get in the postseason, Trams like the Giants are not going to give up 6 runs and cruise to victory, Every game will be very tight and Cubs are still short a shutdown left arm in the bullpen. Cubs will need to overspend to get him and I believe they will.

That would give us a Royals-caliber bullpen. Game over after six innings if we're ahead.
