Kyle now has a 2.84 ERA with a WHIP under 1.00. That's just crazy.
This is simply amazing for a #5 starter & much more typical of a teams ace..
What a luxury we have with our 5 outstanding starters.

Obviously he is a HUGE question mark and we need to find 4 more #5 pitchers that are obviously better.

He is actually pitching in the number three slot at this point. Good, young, homegrown and cheap is a good combo

Thats why we can win those 2-1 or 1-0 games....He brought his A game this year, thats for sure. Cubs pitching has been a Phenom,,,for sure.

I mean, he isn't going to blow guys away, but he is going to keep you in games and take the ball every fifth day.

I think he gets the hate because the eye test to someone not watching clearly isn't overly impressive. He doesn't have major heat or a 12-6 yakker. Only once you watch closer do you realize that he's a real craftsman... He's been awesome this year... Fun to watch!

Not saying Hendricks will have a career as good as Mad Dog, but he's a very similar type of pitcher.

Would you trade Hendricks and Baez + top 30 prospect for Chris Archer?

Would you trade Hendricks and Baez + top 30 prospect for Chris Archer? Not a chance. Especially while Hendricks is out pitching Archer

I have wanted to trade for Archer for awhile and I would have thought I would have said yes to almost any reasonable deal. Although Baez, Hendricks and a prospect is reasonable I do not think I would make that trade. It is tempting to think about. Wonder what Theo would say.

Cubs rotations is the best in all of baseball and bullpen been really good ,minus Richard I think we tend to take our pitching staff for granted & have become somewhat spoiled by them performing so well day in & day out.. Hendricks is even more valuable in my eyes because he isn't a 100 MPH guy with hard breaking pitches which as we all know sometimes requires DL stints or worse & we've got him until 2021 on the cheap.. Life is truly good!!

His career ERA is now 3.36 I'm not comparing him to this guy even though some have because of their style and composure. But since you brought up his career ERA now being 3.36 Greg Maddux career ERA as a Cub was 3.61 , I know he played on the steroid era and his ERA probably would be lower in todays game. But lets use another former Cub great Fergie Jenkins, he played in an ERA where pitchers dominated, his career ERA as a Cub was 3.20 I'm not saying Hendricks is as good or going to be as good as these guys, but it's about time some people start giving this guy some credit .

Kyle is now #3 amongst NL starters in WHIP (take a wild guess at the only two guys ahead of him) and he is also #4 in batting average against.
Not too shabby for a #5....

I agree I've been a fan since he came up. Even last year during his "sophomore slump" he put up a 3.95 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, only walked 43 and even K'd 167 which is pretty decent for the type of pitcher he is. These are generally numbers of a solid number 3 yet a lot of people wanted to get rid of him and pegged him as peaking as a number 5.

Different board but I still have to remind you of stuff like this.

Same here, really liked the guy when he came back and followed him in the minors, his K/BB ratio is nuts. I thought it was ridiculous people wanted to trade him for a young quality starter, when he is a young quality starter. Also, as Batman said, he doesn't have overpowering stuff, so he won't be an injury concern. Plus with his style, similar to Maddux's, it relies heavily on pitch selection and location which takes a little longer to develop. Last year his problem was leaving his fastball up too high and now it's breaking down and he isn't leaving it high in zone. Being such an intelligent player that is a great student of the game, continuing to analyze himself and others, I think he will continue to get better and become a TOR type pitcher. Maybe not an Ace, but a very good 2-3 starter,
