No offense to any of these players but it's obvious if rizzo is currently starting and Russell is even in the game that cubs fans are flooding the ballot box. If russell does get in it won't be deserved and collins is less likely to pick a cubs player like hammel. Batting average isn't everything and Russell is a great player but it's hard to get past rizzos aND Russell batting average and make a claim like this.

Miguel montero is third in catching and ross isn't even listed, heLl is he even on the ballot? Fan voting is a joke

Jason Heyward fourth leading vote getter in outfield tells me everything. Soler is 6th. These guys have sucked.

Look, I love the cubs but this vote is a disgrace.

I can blindly pick an outfielder out of a hat from another team and chances are they've had a better season than soler and even heyward, at least offensively.

The All Star game is a popularity contest. But...if you need a reason why Addison Russell belongs there...he's currently 11th in the NL in RBIs, 2nd among shortstops. All while never hitting higher than 6th and getting most of his at bats hitting 7th and 8th.

don't like the voting process. if the game didn't count it would be different, but it does so... mlb needs to admit the system is broken and clean up their mess.
zobrist and maybe fowler are the only 2 cubs that deserve to start IMO. i could see rizzo, zobrist, bryant and fowler all on the team from the position players side though, they're all either 1 or 2 at their positions (or 4th in fowler's case but he has a legit argument to be a starter).

Which 3B deserves to start over Bryant other than Arenado? Among 3B, Bryant is 2nd in RBI, 2nd in HR, 1st in runs, 3rd in hits, 4th in walks, 4th in BA, 3rd in OBP, 3rd in SLG, and 1st in versatility. The only one you can currently make an argument for is Arenado...but again...it's a popularity contest, and playing on the best team in the game is a big helper.
