I don’t believe that the pitch clock has a thing to do with increased injuries to pitchers at all. I think that if that were the case we would see that injuries would have happened often in the past when almost ALL pitchers took less time between pitches for years & that is not at all the case.. The injuries are happening to “mostly” hard throwing starting pitchers with elite curves/sliders so that leads me to believe that this will be an issue moving forward no matter how much time is allowed between pitches.

I wonder what the metric is for elite spin and how it correlates to expected injury rate.

Pitch clock? Bullshit!
Seems to happen to pitchers who try to throw 100 mph every pitch, look what happened to DeGrom, he was a workhorse who made all his starts and once he started throwing 100 mph every pitch he blows out his arm.

I wonder what the metric is for elite spin and how it correlates to expected injury rate. The higher spin rates generally pertain to fastballs & for the most part it seems the breaking pitches put more strain on the UCL leading to TJ surgeries increasing. Fastball throwers aren’t immune but it “seems” like the other causes more issues.

Any excuse to side step the problem that pitchers are asking their arms to do more than they are made to do.

I also find it curious that the main injury here is to Spencer Strider. The same pitcher who was the talk of spring training with his new filthy curve/sweeper. Connect some dots.

The excuse meter is real. These guys just can't handle the workload.

I seriously doubt the time clock had anything to do with the injuries. That being said, I honestly don't think there was any good reason to shorten it further (maybe media outlets are pushing it -- their version of shrinkflation?).
Playing games in 38 degree temperatures might be a factor, though. Do we really need March games?
