More I read up on this, I am not so sure if Ohtani is a victim here, things are not adding up and the stories changes are weird.
We will never know what truly happened because Manfred will find a way to make this all goes away And sweep it under the carpet but shit is not adding up.

We're gonna see more of this sort of thing because of the sports book expansion. Saw where a few NFL guys got popped for it the past couple years. It's definitely disconcerting.

Per Sports Center this AM it is sounding more like Ohtani may not have known anything about it & after they brought in a different translator Ohtani was shocked as to what had taken place & through his new translator said to forward all questions to the investigators now on the case. This will get interesting.

I’m not buying it. The money came from Ohtani’s bank account. The translator had access to his account? Something seems off here to me. Wow, what a bombshell this could be. Imagine Ohtani getting banned from baseball like Pete Rose? Yeesh

But from what's been said, this is no Rose scenario , supposedly no bets were placed on baseball.

I am really hoping that he didn't do anything wrong here..

That’s the updated story and his updated response after the lawyers got involved and told him to shut the f up and play stupid. He 100% either knew or is the one with the gambling problem and the translator is taking the fall.

We shall find out, but yeah.. but I don't believe Ohtani knew nothing about it, There were multiple $500K wire transfers and he and his money guys did not know anything about it while the banks did not look into it and not alert anybody? Sure...... Also Ohtani and the translator were hanging out in the dugout together right before the story broke a few hours later and you are telling me Ohtani did not know anything was going on until the story broke? Bullshit! Translator is going to take the fall, but not sure if Ohtani was just trying to help his friend out or Ohtani was gambling himself and going through his friend, and this gambling operation they were using was under Federal investigation which is how this all got caught in the first place, so this could get ugly, but I am pretty sure Ohtani will come out clean somehow and for sure the translator is going to take the fall.

Maybe he will retire and say he wants to give basketball a try .

Rough day for the Dodgers
Between Ohtani drama and Yamamoto's ROUGH first start. And between Mookie having 6 rbi's and still losing the game

How does an interpreter have the ability to build up 4.5M in debts?? Something fishy here. So are players not allowed to sports bet?
The puzzle might not be that complex.

California does not yet have legal sports betting. Doesn't mean he couldn't have placed bets elsewhere, but this thing could have layers like an onion.

I'm pretty sure they can , just not on baseball.

How does an interpreter have the ability to build up 4.5M in debts?? Something fishy here. First thing I thought was that the translator must also be the accountant. So what did the translator do for money in Japan? Ohtani had no need for a translator over there. Was he an agent who unhitched his wagon from everyone else when Ohtani was signed over here for a ride as a "translator"?
I can see an an agent having a gambling monkey on his back
