Might not be the "statement" you'd have guessed ... i.e. the Cubs taking (another) series from the Cards. And Kris Bryant making a "statement" that it was a nice way to end a very average road trip on a high -- love that attitude. Both strong statements. But there's another statement here. The "statement" in this particular case was actually from the Cards' side of the fence. Apparently, somebody seems to think today's ballgame was a "statement loss." Those are words I associate with teams in trouble. We've had a ton of statement losses in our past, so I'm not poking fun, I just seem to think right now the Cards may be a "frog boiling in a pot". Article linked below ... and I couldn't help but laugh a little to myself. Not in a snarky way, but in a "Wow, I can't believe I'm reading this" sorta way. Again, not predicting a free fall, but this is the type of justification / rhetoric so many of us on this forum were accustomed to reading for years, prior to the current FO taking charge with a real plan. espn.go.com/blog/st-louis-cardinals/post/_/id/1437/kolten-wong-things-cardinals-made-a-statement-in-loss
