About about the last 10 games? Different story Fingers crossed though because were stuck with him Not really the last , he had a shitty august ERA wise but was still decent most of the time, had 1 real bad start He was basically what we were hoping for almost 3 of the 6 months April 4.50 May 10.90 didn't make it into the 6th inning in any starts June 5.60 made it into the 6th in 2 of 5 starts July 2.67 and made it into the 6th or later in 5 of his 6 starts August 5.23 made it into the 6th inning in 4 of 6 and had an 8 run game that blew up his ERA for the month Sept/Oct 2.76 made it into the 6th inning in 4 of 6
April for Taillon: start 1- 4ip/3er start 2- 5ip/4er start 3- 5ip/0er
I wouldn't say it's the version of Taillon we were hoping for in April. Though 4.5 doesn't sound so bad, it wasn't consistent results. That good start (5ip/0er) was against the Dodgers in LA. Not too shabby there.
Taillon was able to stay pretty healthy last season. Other than that, not much value as a starter for us. We have an excess of kids, so we won't hurt by missing Taillon from the rotation right now.

Don't forget that a lot of Taillon's struggles early on were when the club was trying to force him to learn and use the sweeper pitch. Once they went away from that things improved.

Yep, pretty much although he did have some pretty bad starts here and there he was a lot better and made it into atleast the 6th inning in 13 of his last 18 starts .

When he gets back to good health I believe he will be a good #3 starter for us. BUT, he's got to be healthy.

They will be streaming today’s Cubs/Sox breakout game this afternoon right from their website. Bonus for Chicago hockey fans, Landon Slaggert is making his NHL debut tonight against the Kings. Keep injecting that exciting Hawks youth into my veins please!

Looking forward to Slaggert's debut , but the Hawks need to also inject some veteran talent into or veins to go with the youth. Imagine how good Bedard is going to be with actual talent around him. He's been amazing as it is.

Iminaga has struck out 19 of the 41 batters he's faced in spring training. Major League hitters hit .167 with 2 Strikes (2021). Iminaga had 2 Strikes on the first 15 Batters he faced. In his last inning 2 Batters swung at the first Pitch. 1 got a Hit. 1 hit into a DP.

Any surprises, disappointments, etc, this ST leading up to the start of the regular season? My disappointments: 1. I really wish the Cubs would have let Brennen Davis come back and play some more ST games, even if he was going back to AAA regardless. 2. Would have been nice to see PCA make it hard on the Cubs to send him back down, regardless if that was the plan all along. My surprises: 1. I was personally surprised at how much I would like Busch. I hope he can carry it over to the regular season. 2. Suzuki WOW! I hope he has a monster year.... STAY HEALTHY Neutral: 1. Not much on pitching as I already thought it was a strong suit for the Cubs. I mean, I liked what Ben Brown looked like. Lots of K's for Imanaga, but gets hit pretty good. I think a battery of Steele/Wicks may be the future of the top of this rotation. 2. The veterans.... I don't care much about ST for veterans.

Disappointments 1. I can't say Davis because I expected nothing but it was exciting to see him have a nice early start and then another set back and getting hit in the head , even though it was a breaking pitch , that's no joke and something to be cautious about especially with the other issues he's had, so no rush with him. PCA , I agree I was hoping he'd make it a tough choice and when it looked like Belli might not come back I though he had a real shot to make the team but when Belli signed I knew he had no chance even if he looked great in spring training. 2. Taillon , I was hoping for him to come in looking like he finished and be the guy we were expecting. 3. Canario , not that he was bad, but he was kind of just present and I was hoping he'd have a monster spring so making the roster would be a given. Surprises. 1. Busch , I wasn't surprised , from what I seen and read the guy looked legit , thats why I was excited over the trade. My surprise Bote and how good he looked and the amount of playing time he got for a guy who really had zero chance to make the team anyway , so I was confused as to why he was playing so much. My only thought was showcasing him hoping a team would come calling so they can get out of atleast a fraction of his contract. 2.Suzuki , I think we have the real deal , he's looked like this ever since the benching, if he stays healthy I would not be surprised to see him getting some MVP votes. No real 2nd surprise for me. Pitching , I never judge much of anything about it because there are times (actually more than we know) that they just have them working on certain things in a game and don't really care much about results. For the most part , they made it through spring fairly healthy other than Taillon.
