Jed's made the tough decisions of letting most of the core go. While getting good returns for them. He hasn't traded the farm for quick fix's, and when he has traded farm hand it's mostly worked out, and not to much over pay. Now firing Ross ( whom most liked ), to hire Councel. Now rumors of Ohtani chances. Kudos Jed. I like the direction of the team right now. A good 40 man with a good farm.

I like Jed. He’s done a tremendous job of rebuilding the farm system and as you stated, he made the tough decisions with the old 2016 guys that needed to be made. I don’t have a problem with him leading this club. Just like he’s had some big off seasons and moments before, this is another one right here that he can’t muck up though. This organization and its fans are ready for a consistent winner on the field. Make it happen, cap’n.

He’s like all GMe have made mistakes but overall he has done a tremendous job on building our organization back to being competitive. I do worry his FA mistakes last year will hurt us this year with so much dead money but his positive moves have outweighed his bad moves in my opinion.

I do worry his FA mistakes last year will hurt us this year with so much dead money but his positive moves have outweighed his bad moves in my opinion. The dead money could be relevant, but it would be a shame if it were. Amongst Mancini (7m), Bellinger (5.5m), Barnhart (3.25m), and Boxberger (.8m), the total 2024 deferred payment amount is 16.55. Of that, only Mancini’s and Barnhart’s collective 10.25m counts towards the luxury tax. If Ricketts and Hoyer were to let that impact their offseason plans in any way, shape, or form, I’d be highly disappointed.

Jed's playing the primma donna agent game. Waiting. Good things come to those who wait.

In most years I'd be tempted to agree, and I'm hopeful the Cubs will get the players they have targeted. However, most of the big spending has been done by 1 team. There are maybe 5-6 that have spent 70 million+ over the course of the contracts. There are a lot of teams (Cubs included) that still have a lot of money to spend. A bunch of larger market teams hoping to contend haven't done much: Cubs, Braves, Yankees, Mariners. It's not like years past when free agency got off to a bang and clever teams could wait it out.

We'll see how much appreciation he gets soon. 30 games under .500 (228-258) is nothing to appreciate since Theo left.

Has anybody done a well check on Jed's house / office ....starting to get worried. I think all of us are a bit on edge with no signings yet. Then again other than missing out on Ohtani (which surprised nobody - but I had high hopes) their "targets we supposedly knew about" are still unsigned. #2 Bellinger, #10 Imanaga, & Rhys Hoskins so hopefully they start the action soon..

Braves have done plenty but it's mainly helping other teams clear money because they've flipped or released guys the obtained like Marco Gonzales, Max Stassi, Carpenter, and they've kept two guys Kelenic and Kerr who should help them . Yankees traded for Verdugo , Soto and Grisham but haven't done anything in free agency.
