As a player, as a manager, either way, much appreciated and thank you for all you did. Rossy went through some tough times with the Cubs as manager, from COVID, to players from the Championship team moving on, etc, the hand he was dealt wasn't always easy.

I like him a lot as a player, person and manager and like fine said, sad to see him go out this way , he deserves better and it's a shame he won't be part of the next Cubs championship after playing such a big part in the last one. I'm sure he won't be out of a managing job for long, unless he chooses to be.
Good luck on his next journey.

I am going to miss David Ross and sucks that it ended this way, he did deserved better but that is business and pretty sure he knows that.
I forever will be thankful for what he brought to the Cubs as a player and a manager and if he wants to manage again he for sure will get another shot as he is a good manager as he is highly respected around the league and a excellent leader.
Best of luck to David Ross who will always be a Cubs legend.

I always liked Ross. As a manager his moves would often leave you wondering. His managerial moves finally caught up to him. He has no one to blame but himself. He went out doing it his way, though. Kudo's to David Ross! Thanks and good luck Rossie!!

Kudo's to David Ross! Thanks and good luck Rossie!! I don't see it that his moves caught up to him , it's not like they looked to fire him or decided to move on , this seems 100% a move to get one of the best managers in the game while you can so it to me was all about hiring Councell , not firing Ross. I think there were obviously some things they didn't see eye to eye on with him and yes he did make mistakes, most managers do , but it was nothing to lose his job over, he didn't lose it for what he did or did not do , he lost it becuase they felt there was somebody better out there who could bring them back to a WS and that's not really a knock on Ross.

Thanks Ross, it was a hell of a ride. From the heroics of 2016 and beyond, thanks for what you brought here. You deserve better than what happened yesterday, but we all appreciate everything you've done.

Heard on the radio that Sahadev Sharma said it was slightly contentious. Wouldn't doubt it. Ross has been a hero in this town since 2016 and had gone through a ton in his 4 seasons of coaching, from the Covid conundrum, to the pain of trading off his former WS winning teammates and friends, to the downturn of 2022 and unexpected successes this year. Criticisms of his lineups aside, he'd done little wrong. Has to be frustrating as a person to hear, do nothing wrong but somebody's just better. Like your wife dropping you out of the blue for a better looking dude with more money.

Nobody is going to take the news of well we like you , but we like somebody else better in a good way. Ross had to be pissed and caught totally off guard with this. Can't imagine what he's going through .

Jed and Ross met in Florida yesterday and reports say he was "blind sided" by the news of Counsell being hired.
Also, people within baseball, the coaches fraternity, thinks what the Cubs did to Ross was "unethical". People within baseball also said, Cubs made a good move.

Also, people within baseball, the coaches fraternity, thinks what the Cubs did to Ross was "unethical". People within baseball also said, Cubs made a good move. Right on all 3 things. We all were blindsided by this and I'm sure Ross was in touch with Jed after the season with what they had planned regarding possible off sesson targets for the team and had heard nothing but praise from Jed and Ricketts so he had to be feeling secure for atleast 2024 , so to say he was blindsided is probably actually an understatement. And I pretty much agree, it was unethical , especially when it's a guy as well repsected as Ross is in the game but if you get past that , how can anybody fault them for going out and getting one of the better managers in the game while they have a chance to. It's not like he was going to be available any time soon again , ethics aside , this shows they are serious about wanting to win again. Ross will bounce back , I'm sure he gets a managing job pretty quickly.

We're all excited to have a new and extremely successful head coach, but over time I think we'll probably come to realize, wow, Jed really did him dirty.

Lol, not over time , that was my immediate reaction but it's a front office guys job to want the best guy you can get , so I can't blame Jed for what he did. You can't wait out the season and and his contract to decide if Ross is your guy because Counsell wasn't going to be out there to hire. Are you going to hold back the franchise or your chance to win over a guys feelings ? He was done dirty but most people other than Ross probably understand why.

I wonder which part specifically was considered by some as unethical. Was it the method of being fired? Was it just the fact that he got replaced?
I'd like our team to handle things to right way for sake of reputation to bring players and coaches to us in the future.
I agree that it was probably a good move. Hard to be dissapointed with such a successful manager.

Cheers to you David Ross. I’m sure feelings are hurt right now, on both sides, but despite this being a silly little game it’s still a business and this was purely a business decision. Ross means the world to this organization and its fans, but the Cubs are now turning the page into a chapter.
Whether he decides to take some time off or pursue a new opportunity in the game right away, Ross is young and has a bright future in this league. Cheers to you David Ross, and thank you for all you’ve meant to this organization over the last several years.
