I am glad Len and Jim got some love at #4. Pretty cool to see. Giants is always my lock at #1 with Miller, Kruk and Kip. calling the games.
Mets and Pirates are too high on the list. I cannot stand listening to Pirates telecast.

Len has grown on me over the years. JD is a good color guy, too, though Brenly Iis still my favorite. Stone destroyed his career when he took up with Hawk

Stoney is still well respected and one of the best atound. I mean that purely from a broadcast standpoint, Hawk drags Steve down. Instead of listeners hearing his insightful commentary, as we grew accustomed to, they hear Hawk's incessant whining and dumb superlatives. I read an article the other day from a Sox fan who says he cannot watch the Sox on TV anymore because of Hawk - so Steve is suffering, to some degree, as a result of the lunacy of his partner.

Good to see Thom Brenneman bringing up the rear of that list. I didn't know Dewayne Staats called Tampa Bay games. Remember him on Cubs WGN telecasts years ago.
I know it's probably blasphemy, but I think Vin Scully is boring as shit. No doubt he's a legend, but I need some energy and humorous stories over the course of a 3-hour game.
I'd pay extra on my MLB package to pick up Pat and Ron audio on TV. Nothing against Len and JD, but I love our radio guys.

Stoney is still well respected and one of the best atound. I never liked Stone. He was tolerable with Harry but I never liked his whiny arrogant tone even then and it's gotten way worse over the years. Other than Brickhouse , Vince Loyd , Harry and Pat Hughes I really have not liked any Cubs broadcasters.

Stone destroyed his career when he took up with Hawk I agree, really liked Brenly with Len, they complemented each other well. JD and Len are building their chemistry, but the first season with those two was rough. I also agree about Stone, he's become bitter after years of sitting next to a complete idiot. Him and Harry were great together, mainly because Harry kept everything light hearted.

As for Brenly, I will never forget when he said you could throw darts in the Cubs dugout and hit a better defensive outfielder than Alfonso Soriano. Classic. He also absolutely went off on C.B. Bucknor one time - I was rolling...

Stoney is still well respected and one of the best atound. I really learned a lot about baseball growing up listening to Steve Stone on WGN... I really liked his sarcasm too. I'd take him back in a second

Stone destroyed his career when he took up with Hawk The first Cubs game I took my wife to in Philly, I bought club box seats right below the Cubs broadcast booth. My wife was wearing her pink Cubs hat and my Aramis Ramirez jersey.. Anyway, after the 6th inning, Bob Brenley stuck his head out of the booth and my wife asked him to sign her hat. Bob looked around and told her to toss it up and he signed it and threw it back down to her.... He's her favorite for sure!

I'll always have a soft spot for Stoney since I grew up listening to him. But I can't bring myself to tune into a White Sox game ever again. I won't listen to Hawk Harrelson under any circumstances.
I didn't realize until last year that Dick Enberg called Padres games. I was watching a game late one night and thought "This voice sounds really familiar."

IMHO, The combination of Harry and Stoney was strong because of their complimentary make-up. Stone's intelligence and dry wit was the yin to Harry's "inebriated by the 4th inning" hilarity / yang. There were times during the pre-game chat where Harry would say something funny (unitentionally) or butcher some dude's name, and the way Stone would look at the camera with just the hint of a wince was poetry.
Stone's career is in shit city right now. His choice, so nobody but himself to blame. Regardless of whether you like him or not, he deserves a better fate, and wouldn't surprise me if something happens there soon.
Since there's nothing I know of that compliments "gnashing on a shit sandwich for 3 hours a day" ... there will never be a good broadcast team on the South Side until they tell Hawk to hit the bricks. He is brutal. Another example of the "anti-marketing" of the Sox. They are like Costanza -- they should chose the exact opposite of their instincts.
