well i think i figured out why mlb.tv buffers so much for me, not saying it does for everyone, but every time i run it regularly off my roku it's constant buffering, but if i use ball park sound only it runs almost flawlessly.
not sure why but i guess i really don't need the broadcasters.

I run mine through my Blu ray. It doesn't buffer that bad but my phone mlbtv is always ahead. It's good I guess because then I know when they're going to score. I guess for you the audio is eating up bandwidth and slowing it down. You're not missing much because Len and Jim don't have much to say. I don't totally dislike them but damn they're bland.

I never have buffering on Roku but I'm not wireless and have really fast broadband.

I watch almost 95% of games on MLB.tv. And I have 100mbps download, so it's not the speed, but it depends on the time of day, and how many people are watching the game, if it's the free game of the day, it will start to buffer and lag, or if it's a game on ESPN, or somewhere were people don't get tv access, it will start to lag as well.
And it also depends on the device you're watching it, sometimes my Xbox One will lag, and the Ps3 will be ok, sometimes the opposite, I can always get good connection on mi iPad though, or most of the time. But I can't post and watch at the same time. I rarely watch it on the PC, but I think it has a good connection as well.

Even with fast internet, you may have a bottleneck after your modem... at the router for example. Most routers have different speeds for wired and wireless.

I have it wired to the consoles, and the PC, the iPad is wireless and it's the most consistent. And it's very inconsistent, sometimes is flawless, sometimes is unwatchable. It might be my ISP, but I think it's do to traffic, number of people watching.
