Not that it matters with how the Cubs are playing but this started last year with the Cardinals missing the great starters more than 1/2 the time & it is the same so far.
Perfect example:
Angles series - Santiago (4.01 ERA), Shoemaker (9.15 ERA) & Weaver (4.72 ERA). Dodgers series - Stripling (3.82 ERA), Kazmir (5.54 ERA) & Wood (4.58 ERA).
They missed the Angels ace due to TJ surgery coming up & they miss both Maeda & his 1.66 ERA AND Kershaw & his 2.nothing ERA..
The Cubs against the Padres (that came in 6 games under 500) we faced Vargas (1.1 ERA), Rea (3.82 ERA) & Pomeranz (2.12 ERA).
Amazing isn't it. Oh well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger..
I just need to stop paying attention but the Pirates & the Cubs seem to hit 90% of the other teams aces every time.
Go Cubs!!

And they are still 9 games back. That's the reason I am not throwing an absolute tantrum.. I'll get over it.

And they are still 9 games back. Shoemaker of the Angels gave up 4 earned runs in 4 innings last night to the Cardinals & his ERA didn't go up.. Of course he was 9.15 ERA already.. Who is pitching for the Angels tonight against the Cardinals, Pujols gonna give it a try?? Come on man...

Oh I thought you were talking about them missing their ace... Adam Wainwright 6.30 ERA! Hahaha He wishes it was a 6.3 ERA. Now it's 6.80 - BUT even though he gave up 6 earned runs in 5 innings he still got a win yesterday against the toothless Angels 12 to 10. Now on to the Dodgers where they face the 3 starters with ERA's averaging 5.. Must be nice.

It is getting a little ridiculous. They now miss Kershaw which is basically an automatic loss for the Cards.

It is getting a little ridiculous. They now miss Kershaw which is basically an automatic loss for the Cards. Well let's now look at which Aces the Cardinals will miss this week - beginning Monday 5/15: In their next (3) games they miss the Ace of the Rockies, Tyler Chatwood 5-3 with a 3.20 ERA (4 games in Coors field) & every other Rockies starter is 4+ ERA.. In their (3) games in the next series against the Diamondbacks they miss (wait for it..) Greinke & Shelby Miller, their #1 & #2 starter.. Same old, same old... Man..

Not that it really matters. The Cards miss Bumgarner & Cain in the upcoming SF series.. Cain's overall stats aren't great but as of late he has been great - 1.71 ERA over his last 3 full games against good offensive teams (Blue Jay's, Diamondbacks & the Cubs).

It is tough to complain this week since we are playing a four game series against LA and won't face Kershaw.

Oh, I'm pumped that we finally miss an ace ourselves, we just don't seem to do so very often at all, much less once a week like the Cards have been.. We do get Maeda tomorrow & his 2.39 ERA which most likely won't be any fun at all..

And they are still 9 games back. OK.. We just missed Kershaw & Maeda in the Dodger series so we just had some of that "Cardinal luck" that I whine about AND we won't see Greinke this weekend. Nice.. Go Cubs!!

I think this is like poker. We all remember when someone gets lucky but forget when we get lucky. It's a long year we missed Aces many times.

Yes, as I've stated before, over a 5 year time span I believe it all evens out but if you look at last year & the first 2 months of this year the Cardinals had this type of "luck" where the Pirates & the Cubs during that same time span didn't..
