MLBPA and Owners lead negotiators are talking this morning to see if they can come to a solution on the international draft.l, if they can find a solution both can agree with l, then highly likely both sides will get back to negotiating today in a one final attempt to save the full 162 game season. April 14th opening day with 162 games actually falls in Joe prediction in the first place. They can add another week of games to finish the season by adding two additional 3 game series and sprinkle doubleheaders through the rest. Don’t hold your breathe but I got a good feeling they will cross the finish line today and 162 game season will be saved and lockout will be lifted in time for this weekend fun. I'm not getting my hopes up. After yesterday I kind of gave up all hope of this happening anytime soon. But this is good to hear. I'm sooooooooo pumped for the flurry of activity that will happen when this is over, but I can't keep getting optimistic and then let down again and again and again. No doubt & so am I. Signing Nick & Correa without the QO penalty would be great but I know that probably won't happen. A guy can hope though..

JP Morosi saying things opened back up when a lot of players came forward saying they like a lot of things that were in yesterdays proposal that the league left on the table and did not withdraw . So it seems coming to some kind of agreement about the International draft will get this done.

With Correa it's really a non factor when you decide to spend that much money and years your commitment is already decided to be all in and losing the pick is an afterthought. With Nick and a guy like Conforto , that could be huge and put a LOT more teams in the mix for them and I believe if it gets dropped the Cubs definitely sign one of those guys.

If they get it done today, is it still 162 game season??? I believe so , MLB network guys all seem very optimistic it will get done today. Union counter proposed a compromise about the Int draft in which they get until November to decide it , QO is removed now and if it does not pass they go back to having the QO for 2023 and beyond.

MLB and MLBPA agreed on the International draft provision.
MLBPA has until 7/25 to accept the International draft if they decide against it then the QO will remain for the remainder of the CBA.

If they get it done today, is it still 162 game season??? No reason why they can't get a 162 game season in still, Manfred never Cancelled the games just postponed opening day to 4/14.

If they get it done today, is it still 162 game season??? Yes. That is why they HAVE to get this done today which it sounds like they just might have take place. If they don't come to agreement today then as far apart as they are on everything else will be nothing as compared to the fight that MLB will have with the Union over missed games & missed pay because MLB is simply not going to pay for missed games & I don't think the Union will budge on not getting paid. If that situation is added on to the CBA we really might not have baseball this year so it just can't happen. This is why I said last night that I really think they get this done. Go common sense!!

Verducci saying if they have to , they could agree upon a number like 158 and still work to try to get it to 162 like what happened the last time there was a stoppage, and they did get it back to 162. Also saying no reason why a 12 hour difference from what was the "deadline" yesterday would make much of a difference in being able to be able to get it to 162 yesterday, but not today.

And the 2 weeks of missed games would make it impossible for players to acrue a full season in 2022 unless they agree to change the criteria of a full season which would be an entire new can of worms.

I know what you are saying but not picking until the 3rd. round with where the Cubs finished last year would be huge no matter where they stand - but yes, getting both of those guys instantly would lessen the impact. No way that happens in reality but man.. That would be awesome & I think put the Cubs up there as a contender.

I meant deciding to sign Correa, you don't really even consider it also includes losing the pick and money, you are spending 300+ million, the draft pick is a 2nd thought. Deciding to sign Nick or Conforto , losing the pick could very well be a deciding factor to sign them or not. I really don't know how serious the Cubs are on Correa , but I believe if the QO pick does get dropped I would be surprised to see the Cubs not sign one of Conforto or Castellanos.

MLB will send a counter proposal today to the union in hopes to close the gaps.

MLB will send a counter proposal today to the union in hopes to close the gaps. As long as that is what it is ...... a gap closer and them not trying to throw something else in , this should get done. They were saying on MLB network what opened this back up was a LOT of players were saying they were OK with all the other stuff. So if they league moves even a little on the gaps this should get done for sure. I can't see them rejecting this or we might be looking at no baseball season at all.

If they get it done today, Lockout could be lifted and camps open Saturday March 12th, ST Games March 19th thru April 9th. Move opening day back to Monday April 11th. If they leave Opening day April 14th the Cubs will have 11 games to make up. Reds 3(R) Cards 2(H) Brewers 4(H) Pirates 2(R).

If an agreement is agreed upon , free agency might get opened up as soon as tonight. Usually a 24-48 hour protocol after agreements like this , but it could be done in real time this time

Gotta agree with your last point BM. If it gets really nasty and then full season pay & service time become affected, then it's game over methinks.

MLBPA set up their last offer in an attempt to meet in the middle, if the owners bit we got baseball.
