I agree with that but I also think, to a lesser degree, they have a situation just like they did last year with Castillo. Every team knows the position that they are in. Federowitz is valuable to the Cubs because Montero is getting older and a possible dl stint could be in the future again this year. Unless Contreras gets his shot. Then again they were in a bad situation last year when they had a call up schwarber and I think that went pretty well. Well that is until this years injury anyhow. It's similar in a way, but on a lesser scale. There are types of ways they can find a guy similar to him besides trading for it. There may be guys just hanging around that wouldn't mind being that guy for a team that may be in the playoffs. He wouldn't be on the playoff roster unless Montero or Ross get hurt. Even if that were to happen I would think Contreras would get the nod. I think his value is in Iowa and like fine said they're probably trying to see if they can get him back there somehow. Unlike a lot of people I don't think he is garbage too the Cubs. I also wouldn't overstate his value as a big leaguer. Just my opinion anyhow

Just my opinion anyhow Maybe not, but there may be guys out there still willing to do something like that. I don't see any way they can avoid him getting claimed.

I agree that there is almost no way that he doesn't get claimed by some team.

0-1 with a run scored Thursday night and on Friday the AA game was rained out. I wonder if he is already on a red eye flight to SF.

It's possible, but I'm not sure two plate appearences at AA are enough to get a guy ready for major league pitching after 2 weeks off. Also a night game at San Francisco might not be the best place for a guy coming off a hamstring injury, with only one game of prep.
EDIT; completely forgot Heyward got hurt last night. Szczur could be on his way.
