I know it's way too early to even think about popping the Cy Young bubbly, so this thread could to be used to discuss his season long development and progress. The first 2 starts are definitely encouraging:

He’s looked fantastic and there is no reason to feel anything other than highly encouraged at the moment. The real test for Shota will be the summer months at Wrigley where fly ball pitchers can run into issues. Teams will also have more of a book and gamelan on him where right now it’s more of a blank slate he’s working with.
But optimism is high right now, he’s looked sharp through his first two career starts.

The first 2 starts are definitely encouraging: Lol, yeah , lets calm down a bit. I loved the signing and he's quickly becoming one of my favorite Cubs , love his personality , and he's looked good so far but I'm not expecting anything more than I did when he signed because of the start he's had. it's only 2 games. I expected a #3-4 type starter with hopes he could be better and a #2-3 type instead. I'm sure he's going to run into some bad starts sooner or later, expecially with games with the wind blowing out but there is a lot to like about him and I like it that he doesn't seemed overwhelmed or phased by any hitters and he just goes right after them. He seems to pitch with confidence and enthusiasm .

I’m excited for Saturday. I saw him in Mesa, looked great and he’s starting the Mariners -Cubs game I’m going to.

Pretty solid outing for Imanaga although he did show a couple of traits that might lower his ceiling.
1. His propensity to give up hard contact flyballs on pitches above the belt will defintely be something to watch in warm weather. 2. He might not be as lockdown effective the 3rd time through a lineup, especially once they have good scouting tape to view.

True , but he shows good poise and even though he didn't have the greatest command of his stuff last night he still managed not to give up an earned run and when pitchers can still beat you when they don't have their best stuff thats a good trait.

I'd say he's progressing quite well , 4th lowest ERA after first 6 starts in baseball history.
