Friday article on where the Mets would trade Alonso (Free agent next year) to the Cubs for Wicks, Canario & Busch.
It's no secret that I have been opposed to ANY trade for Alonso for the past offseason but I honestly wouldn't even be in favor of a Busch for Alonso straight up trade, much less adding in Wicks & Canario to the deal.
I would lessen my opposition to dealing for Cleveland's Clase now because our pen is a weak area & he would really boost it but sadly with them just losing Bieber for the season I seriously doubt they are ready to pack it in just yet but it may well be coming. If they did trade for him I would want to make it a much larger deal prospect wise & get Clase AND Espino, their top pitching prospect starter that just had surgery (again) which would really cost the Cubs some prospects & young players but Espino (if healthy) has TOR potential BUT the healthy comment is no guarantee..

I would not even do Busch for Alonso straight up either, Busch looks like the long term 1B option for the Cubs and comes with 6 years of control and then throwing in Wicks? Seriously? lol I am with you, if the Cubs make trades it will be pitching focused especially if Suzuki and Morel continue to establish being monster hitters and Busch continues his strong start, there will be no need to upgrade the offense especially with all the depth in the minors.

I don't know if this is click bait but I rarely look at articles speculating on trades. I saw two headlines this week saying the Cubs need to sell high on Suzuki. Idiots. I don't give them the time of day. Outrageousness gets clicks, unfortunately.

Even by their low, low, LOWWWWW standards this proposed trade idea is beyond ridiculous. Never click anything from FS. It’s complete nonsense. I’d assume they were probably the “source” for those Suzuki trades you reference as well. Worthless.

Well they traded Joe Hudson (C) to Mets And Fansided will probably have a heading for it saying the Cubs and Mets make major trade and show a picture of Alonso. I stopped clicking on their bullshit a long time ago , but I will always make comments in the comment section on their Facebook page. One can only see so many who the Cubs are targeting in trade posts to the point it annoys me, so I comment and tell them to stop their clickbait BS . I highly doubt anything major other than guys who are roster bubble type guys who get DFA'd are being talked about this time of year and there are certainly no Alonso talks going on now.
