all of the above and he also wasn't getting any help from the ump , he painted the corner a couple times and they were not called strikes. MLB umpires tend to call strikes on the edge as balls, to teach newly called-up rookies to aim closer to the center of the zone. The umpires want their jobs to be made easier. Or they just flat out suck. There was a 3-2 picth called a ball in a crucial spot in the Phillies/Braves game that was just slightly above the middle box of the strike zone , and I don't mean the strike zone box, the middle box in the strike zone that shows the exact middle of it.
